This year, my husband has confessed to me that he is really in the Christmas spirit! He and the kids and I spent Saturday putting up the tree and decorating all over the place! It was such a change for me. I can usually get my daughter interested and sometimes my son, but usually all my husband will be talked into is bringing things up from the basement where they are stored. There are about 3 very large boxes and he generally brings them up grudgingly for me. This year, he said "I want the kids to have good memories of Christmas and also of their dad". What a blessing! He is feeling very nostalgic too!
How about you? Are you the one to decorate? Do you enjoy it? I have to admit that it generally takes me several days when it is just me. I would start out enjoying it but then change to just hoping to get it over with. This was so much better this year! Does your spouse help?

Oh, this is wondeful! Your husband is so right - the children will look back with happiness on their Christmas decorations.
The children and I generally decorated - whilst my husband looked on and gave advice! Yesterday, whilst the twins were absent, I did some of th high decorations and I enjoyed doing this myself. It was fun. Then I got organized for Christmas dinner by sorting out little things. I like linen napkins and tablecloths. As my house is packed top overflowing, I couldmnt remember where eveything was. Then I washed all the napkins etc - as I will probaly have about 16 to dinner. I felt good that this much was accomplished.
And no, I don't have a table to set sixteen. So in my 'sun' room, I will have three round tables - two of which - normally are on the outside patio. I won't put up my tree until the twins' Mommy comes so that she can join in the fun. Blessings

Oh, I love to hear about all of your plans! You are going to have a houseful!! I am especially touched that you are waiting for your DIL to arrive to put up the tree. Do you have an artificial one? Are Christmas trees hard to come by in Jamaica? I imagine that they would be rather expensive there!

We would cut down a fir tree from the farm each year. Last year, my daughter bought a real tree but I am taking out the old artificial tree this year. Am economizing. That's the plan so far. No, my DIL is a wonderful lady and I love her so much. She is arriving on Saturday and so will be with me for a month with her twins. They know that Mommy is coming and are getting so excited. It will be a wonderful christmas even though I won't have all my children home.
Some will be sleeping in the sitting room on a blow up bed!

It's nice to see the whole family enjoying the decorating the whole house in preparation for the Christmas season. I'm glad you have your hubby and kids who helped you out. Well in my home, my hubby and my charge take in charge of putting outdoor Christmas lights and also lifting those big boxes of Christmas decors out of the store room. Inside the house it is myself alone who do the decorating because I know better how to do it. They however help with nailing and reaching the higher walls as I instruct them. I do enjoy decorating the house during Christmas season and I always make sure that each Christmas the house is filled with Christmas spirit.

For sure, he does the out side lites, buys the tree, sets it up, helps decorate it, does at least half if not more of the shopping. He take the kids to see the christmas lights all aover town, makes egg nog, sing carols with us, he helps cook christmas dinner, helps take it all down and pack it way, goes to the christmas paly at church and take tons of pics, and even takes the grand kids to see Santa and the dreadful lines at the mall. there are only Four things he wont do, write christmas cards, bake christmas cookies, go to the post office during the month of Dec. and wrap the gifts... other wise he is all about Christmas. We make a great team, cause I dont mind doing all the things he won't and I am thrilled for all the things he does. But then again, he also does 90% of our grocery shopping and is an all around great husband.

Hi rocketj1! when my husband was not yet working somewhere far from us now,he really did participate in decorating especially with all those hanging matters. It is always a family bonding doing that every year. When he was around,he went shopping with me but for some unknown reasons I don't like shopping with him LOL...He always had these things that he was not happy with all those roaming around just to canvass first hich is better, which is cheaper or which is practical to purchase. But of course I love the idea that he was there because after shopping he would always treat us to a dinner where kids would like to eat.Always a bonding time to look forward each year.

My hubby sure does participate. I think the fact that our daughter loves Christmas really puts him in the mood. This year I had to stop him. He thought I wanted a new tree. You know, one of those expensive jobs that have the colors coordinated and all the ornaments match. I must have commented that one looked nice or something. We usually decorate as a family. Turn on the Christmas music, dance a little, and get to work. It's alot of fun. I guess that's why at 5, our daughter started talking about it around late August into September!

I love Christmas and everything about it. I really enjoy decorating the Christmas tree and putting Christmas decorations all around the house. I love Christmas shopping and buying gifts for people to. I don't even mind when the stores are crowded during the Christmas season. The hustle and bustle of the crowds just adds to the excitement for me.
I am still very much a kid at heart, especially so when it comes to Christmas time. So much so, that even though under any other circumstances, I absolutely hate cooking or baking, I very much enjoy baking and decorating Christmas cookies with my kids.
The kids and I also enjoy watching all the Christmas specials and movies that we can throughout the entire holiday season.
Now my husband, on the other hand, is Scrooge! He's always complaining about what a pain in the butt it is to decorate the tree, how he hates shopping, how he is missing whatever tv show because the kids and I are watching yet another Christmas movie, (the thing about that is, my husband usually hogs the remote and tv most of the time, I seldom ever watch tv at all except for the Christmas specials when I insist on seeing what I want, lol), etc. etc. etc...About the only thing my husband does is shop for my gifts which, of course, is the only thing that I can not take care of myself, at least not and still be surprised, lol.
That's ok though, I have enough holiday spirit for the both of us!

Lucky You! My husband doesn't participate very often. He will bring some of the stuff out of storage for me, but only after I beg him a million times. He also hates shopping when the stores are full of shoppers, so he will usually go with me and I pick out my own present which he will wrap up and place under the tree so I can act surprised in front of the kids. It isn't exciting, but at least I get something I actually want. I've already told everyone in the house, that if they want decorations this year, they will have to help and promise to help with the removal. Have a great one!

I usually do the majority of the decorating but that is because I have always enjoyed it more than the rest of the family.. They enjoy Christmas but not the decorating and I must confess, I am particular about where everything goes, everything has a place and I like for everything to be in its place.. This year it is different, our mothers are gone now and our son married and moved out, so it is just the two of us.. I am having a bit of trouble getting into the Christmas spirit since there have been so many changes in our lives, this is the 3rd without my mother-in-law and the 2nd without my mom and my son, so it is still difficult to get things going in the right direction.. My husband does help but it is mainly when he is asked to, the rest of the time he is there for me but out of my way.. This year he is helping me more becausse he realizes that both of us are having a rough time with all of the adjustments in our lives.. Memories are so much fun to make but when the kids grow up and move on with their lives, it isn't always easy to enjoy the holidays as you used to but then you begin the process of making new memories.. We do have so many good memories of the holidays and special moments and traditions that we started with our son, now I can only hope that when he has children, he carries on the traditions that we started with him.. ~~MERRY CHRISTMAS~~

We have always made our tree decorating a family affair. It's just tradition. Hubby does help a lot with not only the decorating, but this year he's a lot more interested in the shopping. In the past I've had to push him out the door on Christmas Eve to get me a gift. This year not only is he coming with me to do some of the kid's shopping, but he's also already gotten a few things from me. It is a breath of fresh air to know he's not waiting until last minute.

For my family, I am the one that says where everything should go and my hubby is the one that puts it all there.. Lol. I do not like doing the tree, I do not know why, maybe because when I was a kid I had to do it all the time, so now my son and hubby do the tree. I get all the decorations out and place them where I want them and my hubby gets on the ladder or whatever he needs and places them. He enjoys doing it I think, cause this year he was asking if that was all....lol.. Now when it comes to shopping, I do most of it by myself, but we do try to do some of it together so he is not in the dark when someone says thank you for a present.. Have a great Holiday season!!

When my son was younger, I used to decorate the house for the holidays. He loved it afterwards, of course when the gifts started rolling in.
Now, that it is just my husband and I, my husband does the decorating. He mainly does it to try to get me in a festive mood. We never have money around the holidays, and there are never any gifts any more, but the decorations does look nice. I am not sure whether we will decorate this year or not.

That's a nice switch! Your husband does the decorating!
I understand what you mean about not having the money at Christmas time. Sometimes my husband and I will exchange gifts for each other in January when everything is on clearance. We just buy for the kids at the holiday.
Have a blessed Christmas!

My hasband helps in decorating. He helps with the tree and puts the lights up outside. I usually do the rest of the decor. I like to change things so he lets me. I do enjoy him helping other wise I am like you and just want to get it done before it is over. My husband is also nostalgic lately. He is on facebook because I got on facebook. He has made friends with people he hasn't seen in around 10 years. People from high school. It is kinda funny. Hope you have a great Christmas season.

:) my husband do coperates with me sometimes when he is interested in something.but there are many other things i want to do with my husband like my own shopping and everything and i get very disappointed when he is not willing to go with me.e g in shopping for my clothes we looked around for ready made clothes for 2 days but couldnt fine any but he refused to go with me to the tailor if we buy something which needs to be stitched or embroidered.i dont want to rely on my mum all the time.she is growing old and now i think its my own job to look after these chores.otherwise he is v nice n friendly.but even the nicst husband may have some bad qualities.i try to ignore or compromise and i hope i will seceed but dont know what i am gonna do when my mother will not be able to do all thie.this makes me really worried.
