Returning Phone Calls

I find that very few business or professional people return phone calls. So often when talking to my doctor's office, or a retail business, I will have a question and they say they will call me back. I have waited many hours for calls that aren't returned. When I call again, saying that I have been waiting for the return call there is no apology or excuse given. It is just blow off. Does this happen to you? And how do you deal with it?

That is a good way, to not have the expectation. Thanks for responding.

depending on the situation ( doctor vs friend ) if i am waiting on a call from a dr and they dont call me back in a resonable amount of time i just keep calling then when i do get through i tell them i can take my buisness somewhere elsa!now as for a friend i do the same thing i will say i call you back and it sleps my mind and i never do , thats why i text, i can go through my phone and see the message and realize i havnt answered them and then i can

When it is a friend or family that makes it doubly hard. I don't want to be offensive to them but I sometimes feel very dumped on. With the friends and family I think it is even worse, as I end up feeling as if they don't value me or my time at all. I am talking about people who chronically do this, not those who happen to forget once in awhile. Thanks for responding.
