My cat is about 18y old, am not sure, but she must be somewhere yround this.
Anyway she is used to sleep on a cauch, which was ok, as it was an old one, but Im getting a new one tomorrow, so how can I teach her now, that she cant sleep there anymore?
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Save yourself some frustration and don't even try. Just get a nice throw and put over the couch so the cat hair doesn't get all over it. Cat's are very independent and will do what they please, especially since she has always been allowed to do it before. Trying to change this behavior at this late date will only cause the both of you distress.

Would you believe if I told you that she hasnt even try to go on the sofa???
I cant believe it myself.
When we brought the cauch in I gave her a blanket on the floor and now two days after she still sleeps there and didnt even go neer the cauch. I dont think she likes it hahaha.
Thanks for the help and advices though!

Good luck getting the cat to not sleep on your new couch. I think you might have a hard time with that. Especially if the cat has been able to sit there most of its life. Maybe you could have a blanket on part of the couch for the cat to sleep on. That way your new couch will be protected and your cat can still sleep were it is comfortable.

yeah, thats what I was scared hehe, cats just dont give up do they. I remember when i got a new kitchen...my cat knew she cant climb on the counter in the old kitchen but when they installed a new one I found her sleeping on it many times, it took some time to tell her she cant do this hehe. Then again she also knew she cant climb on kitchen table, but once I came home I saw her sleeping right in the middle of it I really dont like her in the kitchen as I do think its not a place for animals, but I do not live alone and I still need to teach my family to close the doors LOL
Thanks for your advice!

You would be surprised what cats do when they think no one is watching them.
We only have one cat that comes inside. He is normally asleep under the dining room table or on top of the washing machine eating his food and then it is back outside to run around he goes. The kitchen is rarely and issue unless I have just cooked some bacon. Then he eyeballs the counter.

I guess persistance is the answer this in this case...
Everytime you see her laying on the couch, simply move her off and place her in another spot, but make sure you keep taking her to the same spot. You have to keep doing this until she gets the use to it.
Have a nice day
