Hi to all,
Tonight my daughter came in from school(she's 13) and asked me if she could cook the evening meal, I had plans to make shepherds pie so she made it instead and I have to say it was delicious and I really, really enjoyed it.....
so what was the last memorable meal, that you cooked yourself or someone else did for you?
I think that shepherds pie my daughter cooked tonight, will stay mine for a very good while....

Hi Scorpio,
I cannot remember as I cook everyday and my cooking is pretty good but I don't really enjoy it because I cooked it.

Hiya Tamara,
that's is isn't it? when you cook all the time (I do all the cooking) it just tastes so much better when someone else has cooked it, one day hun I'II cook you a meal and then perhaps that will be memorable or not..lol

I cooked a nice fish the other night, firstly I boiled some quarters of some potatoes then slowly fried then so they were like baked potatoes, then in silver foil I put butter, a nice piece of white fish, sliced mushrooms and onions and cooked it on the same large pan as I was cooking the potatoes, teamed up with a nice salad, it was a lovely meal....

Strangely (because most meals I prepare are distinctly UNmemorable on every possible level), I had something really different on my son's birthday the other night. We went to his favourite restaurant (where he normally goes with friends, NOT us) - and you choose whether you want steak, chicken or seafood - then it comes out on a hot stone - raw! The stone is set into a porcelain plate, with your salad or vegies in the other half, together with sauces for putting on your meat whilst you're cooking it. Very different! Your daughter's sheppo sounds lovely ... any meal cooked by someone else is a bit special, and never tastes the same as when we do it ourselves!

That sounds so novel but I bet it was nice and yes it does taste different and better when someone else cooks it.

When I was 13 I was left home alone for Christmas and I sat on the sofa playing video games the whole time. Everyone was gone for about 3 or 4 days but I didn't mind. Well I started to get really hungry so I walked in the kitchen and instead of hot pockets or frozen dinners I said to myself I would cook a full meal. Well I did just that. I made honey and pineapple ham, green beans, seasoned corn, rolls and a frozen pie. I spent about 2 hours in the kitchen and it was all a experiment to me, but when I took the first bite of that ham, mmm. It was heaven in my mouth. I have tried many times since then and never once has ham ever tasted as delicious as it did that night.

The most memorable meal i have had lately was thanksgiving dinner. My husband and I decided to stay home this year and just have dinner with our children. My husband and I worked together cooking everything and the kids set the table and cleaned up. it was a wonderful time.

Hi Scorpio, I think if my daughters had cooked or anyone else other than me I would have enjoyed it too. It always tastes better when someone else cooks eh! I haven't had a memeorable meal lately but the very worst one was one I cooked and I had pured the gravy into the wrong jug and i ended up tasting of soap as it was the jug I used for washing. Yuk, memorable but for the wronf reasons LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie....ewwwwwww and yuk!...lol..I bet the taste of that stayed with you for ages...but it is nicer when someone else cooks it, my daughter surprises me she's a lovely cook..mind you she made me a cheese sandwhich the other day and think she just cut the 1lb block in half and put it between two rounds of bread..it was awful and I was trying my best to eat it so as not to upset her but I just couldn't..xx

Well, I don’t go out very often since my boyfriend left to work for abroad and I am on night shift so I am always sleeping the whole afternoon… so I don’t get to eat in a fancy restaurant anymore.. But last Sunday, my Mother cooked a “beef steak” for our Lunch. At dinner, she cooked a “chicken roll with paste” and made a creamy corn soup with a mixed vegetable side dish for all of us. I was so full at that time! Lolz… And happy too since all of my family members are present that day. They were all here at home since it is vacation for my brothers and sisters from college. Cheers!

Hi ya scorpio
Aww that was really nice! I can't wait until my kids are older and I can stick a pinny on them. My ex-boyfriend told me last year that I could put my feet up and he would do dinner that night. He said he did a mean chicken casserole. Great I thought. He bunged some ingredients into the slow cooker and I waited in anticipation. Oh dear me! It was the most watery, tasteless and blandest casserole I have ever tasted but he lapped it up as if was the best thing since sliced bread. Having known I think I would have opted for the sliced bread!!
