hii, every mylotters! i think many of mylotters know another language aside from English... do u think u are a talented in language ? i met a guy of this type on campus last year when i was still a college student...we just came across at a small resturant and sit face to face..i said hello to him and asked him in English whether he enjoyed Chinese noodles. and he replied fluently in Chinese..it surprised me a little that he spoke Chinese so well... then he told me he came from Canana and i was shocked to hear that he had been in China just for 4 days!! and he learnt all his Chinese at college in Canada.. its normal that foreigners can speak Chinese well nowadays but mostly i heard of is because they had been lived in China for quite a long time..how did this guy manage to do it without coming to China? maybe he have some Chinese friends or teachers in canada but i don't think they will talk in Chinese all day to practise..u nknow, Chinese is much more difficult to learn than English, especially speak it well.. so i believe he is a talented guy in learning a foreign lanuauge..
have u got a similar experience? have u met a guy who is talented in langauage?

speaking other languages is a skill that you can develop. there are a lot of schools offering different languages modules nowadays especially in Asia. I, myself is a non-native english speaker but since it's taught in school, we learned to communicate through english. Mind you, our country has more than a hundred different native languages. :) I can understand and speak only 4 :)
It's fun to know other languages, you should try it!

I really think that we indians are one of the best in that..since even though our mother tongue is different we tend tend to speak, write and read atleast in two languages..that is i'm a tamilian and my mother tongueis tamil but i would able to do everything in hindi which is our national language and english which is said to be our communication language..so i think that would be more than enough for to prove our skills and i think you are also one in us since you are also able to write and understand english..happy mylotting..

That dude is great. Well yeah. Also, if you're an Asian, you could speak more than 2 languages, I think. Me myself, I really could speak 3 languages fluently. Add up another language (to sum it to 4) but I really can't manage to speak really well unlike your friend. He's great. Have a nice day

I have a friend that I attended high school with and he currently goes to the same university with me. He always loved learning new languages. He was fluent in tagalog, manadrin, french, latin, and german at the age of 16. I wish I was as gifted because I am currently learning korean but it is very difficult for me because it requires so much of my time and I still have other classes to study for.

There are many foreign languages spoken in large cities in Canada. Many foreigners come to Canada and never learn English at all. There are large Chinese speaking communities in Toronto and Vancouver. In Markham, Ontario, all signs are in Chinese and usually have English in small print. In some work places in Canada, it is not uncommon for workers to speak in their native non-English language all day long. Many Canadian schools in areas with large immigrant populations struggle with teaching students because many of the children of immigrants don't get enough practice in English due to their native language being spoken at home exclusively instead of English.

hi..bayernfan! thank u for introducing the situation in Canada coz u live there, right? i know many canadian can speak more than 2 languages since Canada is formed by many immigrants from the world...but that guy i mentioned above is a native English-speaker and he learnt Chinese just at college since he chose a major that's related to Chinese or Asian culture..i don't know exactly..that's why i think he is a talented language learner if he didn't lie to me....more and more young Chinese are learning English just like me even if maybe i would never go abroad...
thank u for reponse and wish Bayern will catch up and top first on table of the German football league before Christmas' Day...Good luck!

I think I'm pretty good at langauges, and I enjoy learning them and learning about them. I have met people who are very talented, for example I know a guy in the Czech Republic who speaks Czech, English, and Spanish and all 3 are almost fluent. I was surprised that he learned Spanish though, because Spain is so far from the Czech Republic. It is surprising to see how well people in other countries learn English and how many people do, I think it has a lot to do with the amount of media the United States and other English speaking countries export.

I have never met a talented guy in language. But I heard a news about a Chinese policeman who can speak eight foreign languages. I have to admire him. He does spend his time to learn these languages and communicate with foreign friends. I am learning foreign languages expect for English. I can draw lessons from his story. But I adimit that it is not an easy work for me to master five foreign languages. But I will keep on learning. Never give up!

I think the person who can speak in more than 4-5 languages should be called as a genius with a great social skill.Peoples with good social skills are especially gifted and talented.I think the main problem for a person who speaks in multi languages is mixing up some words in different languages.Anyway the prefferrd language of business is english and a person who wants to do something in business
must have some knowledge in english.

My first language to learn was english at school. Later on I was travelling a lot all over Europe, lived three years in Spain and learned spanish there. Still later I was working as a truck driver, also roaming all Europe. Being in touch with the people of a country helps a lot to learn, and the more languages I learned, the easier became the next. Now I speak english, spanish, french fluently, do italian rather good, started some time ago with learning turk and tagalog (because my girlfriend lives in Manila)

I studied European Languages in college as my course and now I could speak 4 languages and at least know three more. Before it was overwhelming but after spending a lot of time with people who could speak more than 2 languages and learning them too it was really great.

I met a guy in Varanasi, India who surprised me with his language skills. He was an Indian flute seller who spoke Chinese, Japanese and a few more languages. He told me that he picked up those languages selling flutes on the street. He sold a flute for Rs. 100 to a foreigner before my eyes.
