Being self employed is great for people who are well organized and are a self starter. It's a great feeling to be in control of your own business. In theory you make the decisions on when and how much to work so you should be able to schedule your work around whatever you feel is more important.
The down side is that you only get out of something what you put in. So if you only have a little time to invest you will probably not make very much money.
The other thing is that you are totally responsible for any taxes and are liable for any damages that others may claim against you.
That being said, at this point in my life I would not be anything but self employed.

When I was made redundant I did a small business course and that turned me off a bit, there is a lot to watch out for at least here in Australia anyway, and I had a friend who has had a few different businesses and the stress that was involved was incredible, very hard work with a lot of hours to be put in...

If you are self-employed, you need to be committed and ambitious. It is not for lazy people - and I fear I am one of those. It would indeed be good to be your own boss, and I greatly admire people who are willing to work hard to make their dreams come true. A lot of research is also needed, in order to make sure your product or service is really needed and there will be the right kind of customers in your area. Then you have to market your business so the maximum amount of people know about it. Good luck to you!

Yeah it's obvious that you are your own boss and you have all the rights to do anything with your business and don't have to listen anyone for that..
This way it's the right choice of being self employed but the another thing is that in such situation if you are not well planned then you might be fall from the top....So beware in any case, do take right decision..

That was the thing that i cannot handle those planning on how to do many things I always rattle when I was trying to start my own business. And the main reason I have in mind is what if I fail. How lucky are those strong enough to do that.

Yes, it's great to be the boss. Registering a company is easy. But business can't be done easily, or every one is rich. First, you should make a survey, then choose your familiar field. Nowadays, every business is competitive. In our country, you must huge relation net, then you have chances.

for me, personally yes, being self employed is much better than working for someone or being employed, because it gives you the opportunity to work comfortably and work at you own hours. you can have all the time in the world to be with your family, taking care of the kids, doing your household chores and you can even take your rest as often as you want. But it depends on how much you earn from being self-employed, because if you are employed and it pays you in a high rate with good benefits, kind boss, with some good friends or co-workers, then being employed would be better.

Hello friends, I know many self-employed people although i am a still a person who works. Instead of one Boss they have many boss ie their clients. I know many top Surgeons, Small-business owner through my networking business. But they have long business hours and stress. Although many of them are financially free because of the networking business of ours as they have reached the level where they earn passive income. Read Robert Kiosakis's book "Rich Dad Poor Da" and you will lear some gret wisdom there.

I think in order to succeed as a self employed business person, you should be self-motivating, ambitious and you can't be lazy. You need to have the strength to push yourself a little further toward your goals every day. You really have to love what you do and you have to be happy to take responsibility for everything that happens in your business.
I love being self-employed. I've been self employed for 6 years and I wouldn't dream of doing anything else.

I am self employed. I have a small business. I am my own boss. At first, I felt proud that I am independent and at this age, I have my own business. But I felt bored already. I wanted to have a stable job and have a successful career other than my business. I will be applying for a job but I wont give up my business. I will hire somebody to look for it.
