Do you think myLot moderators should get involved more?

I've been on a bunch of forums before, and a couple of them were forums that paid you to post, and I have noticed that the moderators are always known and involved in discussions. They'll break up flame wars, fix issues that you post about, and share their own advice and thoughts just like everyone else on the forum. This sort of makes me feel that it's a friendlier place when I know who is in charge. Here on myLot, while there's somebody deleting posts, I have no idea who that is. Really, we are given very little information about myLot. We don't know who started it, who runs it, or anything else, it's very "black box". I guess this protects them from people who get annoyed (and people easily do when money is involved), but it seems a bit strange and untrustworthy to me. So what do people think? Would you like to know more about that shadowy figure or group of figures who run myLot?

I am afraid that I don't agree with you at all. myLot's strength is in it's members, most of whom behave quite well. There is the occasional "problem" but by and large everything works. Once moderators start appearing then I am afraid that what happens is a bland pastiche of a site. That's why so many people come from other sites to this one. The whole point of myLot is to generate discussion. Personally I feel that having moderators detracts from that. As for who myLot "is". That's easily discovered by doing a company search online. They are in Kansas if you want a pointer as to where to look.

That's not what I mean, I mean that they should participate in discussions. I like knowing the personalities of the people who are controlling the forum... I agree that they don't need to be handing out more punishments or anything like that.

There is only one that I know of and s/he is myLot Admin. I am not sure what advantage it would bring to know any moderator's identity though. Ignorance is bliss perhaps?

The person's name doesn't matter to me (I'm not going to track anyone down)... I guess I just find that people who moderate forums tend to be interesting people and I like to know their perspectives on things. However I can see you think there's some danger in revealing their identity, which while I don't understand I can respect if they wish to remain in the shadows.

I wish we knew who the mylot moderaters were on this forum. But I guess they like to stay hidden even though they should have something that says mod on there name or something that way if we have any questions we can ask them whih would be nice since I dont know who to talk to.

There is a contact form if you have an issue, although I have never used it and don't know how responsive they are. I imagine there must be fairly few employees at mylot, so it would take a while to get an answer.

i don't agree with you. till now i am satisfied .if some one is deleting some discussion , it does not mater because mostly the discussion are repeated by many members.
