Yesterday I saw a moon and and a star in the sky and I wished that I had a digital cam to take aphoto of it. I am attaching aphoto that appeared in a local newspaper. The local newspapers reported that The moon, Jupiter and Venus come together from time to time, but often they are too close to the Sun or unite at a time when they are not so visible. The next time the three heavenly bodies will be as close and visible as this evening will be on November 18, 2052! They might look close together, but in reality both planets are separated by over 800 million kilometres.

I've seen that too and was really awed by that wonderful sight. I love looking at heavenly bodies at night. We have an open rooftop veranda where I and my hubby spend some time during the night before we go to sleep and looking at the heaven is one of the things we enjoy doing there. As we look up and see the starry sky we can't help but thank God for the beauty we can behold. The moon and the stars speak of God's majesty. As they glitter I could feel that they are altogether singing and praising God. It's as if I could hear the angels singing with them.

Well I saw it when I was walking home from practice so it was probably sometime between 4:45-5:15 However I think it was able to be seen for a while that night.

Where's the star?? I din see it though.. haha =D But the moon is very nice, and i look at it from the picture.. I can see the roughness of it, like a planet, instead of the usual bright yellow i saw.. hehe ^_^ I wonder, where do the papers get this picture from?? BEcause it seems unlikey that they are able to take it so upclose.. lol

Thanksgiving Sky 2008 - This is known as Thanksgiving Sky & occurred on December 1, 2008. It is when the crescent moon, Venus & Jupiter draw the closest together for a good number of years. It is supposed to happen again on November 18, 2052. Many of us won't still be here by then. It appeared different in different parts of the world.
What you saw was the crescent moon, Venus & Jupiter drawing close to each other. This occurrence won't happen again until 2052. On New Years we are supposed to be able to see the crescent moon & Venus lining up again but Jupiter won't be back in the picture until November 18, 2052. I won't be here to see that one. This was the pic I got over my back yard.

what a nice photo you got there friend...and i too love to gaze on the moon for several minutes and would think who else is looking up on the moon in the different parts of the world...before when i get lonely i will just look up and stare at the moon and think that my boyfriend is also staring at it..so it takes away my loneliness and i am once again happy.

A couple of days ago we had a beautiful full mooon. Then we had two days of snow. It is alittle warmer today but not by much. Maybe that double moon I saw was apart of what you are talking about. Ya think? Over 800 million kilometres, huh? That is quite a ways.

I'm remain mesmerized every time I get the chance of such a beautiful sight. Altough getting a picture of that is not that easy, even with a good digital camera, you need the long exposure option and a dark area, not in the city.

Sounds interesting I also wish I have a powerful telescope to view the heavenly bodies. Did the newspaper mention when was the last time Jupiter and Venus looked close with each other? I think it's really exciting to see such phenomenon. Just experiencing to see the lunar eclipse is nice seeing three heavenly bodies is much better! But I really wish I have powerful telescope..waaaah. It's too expensive.

I stood outside in the cold that night looking up at the sky for that spectacular event I could not find it because there was no moon and I couldn't locate it. I was very disappointed. I wonder why we had a moonless night. The sky was very clear no clouds.

I saw the planets the other night but I just figured they were airplanes and were getting a little too close. Good thing my Mom pointed it out to me last night.

It was actually captured and was printed on the newspaper today. It's really amazing how these things creeps up on us and makes us feel a whole lot better. They actually printed it, and it looks like a smiley. It's really funny that I feel warm and fuzzy inside. Somehow it makes me feel that regardless the trials, everything would be alright and we're not alone in our fight, and that there's someone there who's smiling down on me and my futile problems. It actually made me happy. =)
