HELP....my dell comp. n its showing on 8GB free space and whole 23 GB used/

After formatting...........pls help me how can i see which proggram is taking so much space n how i can free that space as i dont have nything installed on it?

there may be way out with advance disk operation and softwares.But they never guaranty that no data will be lost except the older files.Working with those software too risky as they can delete the partion table and etc etc and also time consuming.It is better to have a fresh installation.

how to find this is this is a software or pc's inbuilt utility? kindly mention steps if you can,,,thanks

use tune up 's "explore disk space" to know which file has occupied the most space.and open the location and delete them.It is the most easiest way to find the use of the programs.But be sure you don't delete any system file.

which operating system are you using.If you are a windows vista user try to clean all shadow files and system restore files. Tuneup utilities can this very well.If you are a XP user.. probably you have chosen " keep file system intact" while formatting.I recommend you to format again with " Format the drive using NTFS file system(Quick)".Hope your problem will be solved.

Thanks for quick n nice reply but is there's a way where i can erase those files without formatting as again have to do all the setup with isp then router then drivers,,,,,:(

yes i have windows xp,,,,,,,,,n where does this system restore n files u mentioned are stored can we erase them manually n is there's a way by which i can see the space occupied by progs.

Th operating system will surely take some space.You can see the others under the list of the software installed...you might also want to check your harddisk to make sure you haven't saved some materials you don't want.You can also try reducing the amount of space allocated to your recycle bin.

Thanks for replying...But before formatting i has 17 gb free space with loads of softwares n almost 5 movies ,,,,,,n how can i change the space allocated to recyclebin.............n i have checked in add n remove list i dont have nything installed rather than just basics in winxp.
