I haven't heard anything ot this affect but it would not surprise me. So many American companies out source to India and are loosing American customers due to it. I feel bad for people loosing their jobs, but people in Amercia lost their jobs when the companies moved them to India. It would be better business for companies to keep help desks and customer service jobs in America so that their consumers can get the help they need instead of getting fustrated and moving their business else where.

Same thing is happening in Australia. One of the banks moved it's support centre to India, and then expected the sacked people to train them. They refused :)

I agree with this. I am in Australia also, and Australian's are so fed up with all the calls from Indian Call centre's, and I know many people (myself included) that avoid using companies that do this. Our unemployment rate is high enough without exploiting other countries simply because they are cheaper to employ. It also puts those working in these centre's in an unfair position when they become subject to abuse because of it.

I honestly have no idea Although i do know i am from australia and we have alot of our call centre work done from india and other places, I am told they do this because here it is to expensive to pay someone to work in a call centre but in India it is alot cheaper wages so they get away with it!
It doesnt matter where you work a job is never really secure!

here in philippines we had lots of call center. In fact, it is one of the most promising jobs here in our country. But on the recent reports, INDIA is doing a good job and they said most call center now prefer to be involved with people in INDIA.

These all are rumours there are many more projects and process which are still coming and will not stop. Don't be afraid of any such rumours. This IT, call Center and Bpo would be for many years to come.

I do not think that call centre's will shut down in India. If one goes then another few will turn up.The difference between the curriencies is too much,to ditter them away. But compitition from East Europe is one the way.

i doubt.. call center agents are a demand nowadays.. so i dont think they're losing any money to shut down their company. how much do you get paid in the call center|? just curious
