How long does an Ice Age last?

I just watched a movie that said there have been 7 of them, but it didn't say how long they last and I was just wondering.
Thanks!

Evidence of one ice age was that it lasted 220 million years, more recent than that 30 million. and the last few are said to have lasted 40,000 - 100,000 years. The last one ended 10,000 years ago.

grandpa_lash,
Thank you for those numbers!
So it seems that the ice-ages are lasting for a less and less lenghth of time, right?
How long do you think this next one will be?

Sharra1,
That's what I thought too, but after watching An Inconvenent Truth, it makes more sense now.
It didn't say anything about us here in the US going into an Ice Age, but with the ice caps melting, Europe could be starting one within the next 50 years.
It's all about the currents and heat exchange, and how the ice caps melting would shut that down for a while. It's really interesting. If you haven't seen the movie, and don't want to buy it, you can go to the movie's website (www.climatecrisis.net) and download their studyguide. They don't have the easy to understand chart of the currents and why getting hotter means eventual freezing, but it's still good.
