The guitars made outside US is actually not that bad as you think and sometimes it can beat the guitars from US. For me, manufacturer from Japan and Korea are really good when you play their middle to high end guitar. Not sure about Mexico though since I never played one for the MIM(made in Mexico) Fenders. Fender and Ibanez which are from Japan mostly can give you great satisfaction on the product quality. Try to avoid China and Indonesia manufacturers and save a bit for the Japanese guitars if you really would like to buy the guitar outside US. Goodluck!

I don't know what the first guy is talking about, but guitars made by squire are maybe in the same factories as the requlars. Fender does have companies in Mexico, but I don't think that they closed the Asian factories. The guitars made in Mexico are much cheaper (about $350 compared to $1000), and are almost identical to the American conterpart, but just weren't made here. I don't know what the difference ism, or why it matters, but I guess it does. I don't know anything about the Ibenz guitars, but I think their factories are in Asia mostly.
