on the weekend, we got a new kitten. she is so cute and affectionate and loves to play. i've had cats my whole life but they were always litter trained when i got them. the kitten is about 3 months old and is not litter trained. How do i train it to use the litter box?

Put the kitten in her litter box and move her front paws as if she is scratching. Do this several times a day. Your kitten will soon get the idea. Make sure you get her a vet check. Peeing out of the box could be a sign of illness. Concatulations on your new kitty. May you have lots of joy with her. What is her name?

Congratulations on your new kitten, she must be really cute. ^_^
I am not sure how to train a kitten, I only have a dog. We always ask her to go to the spot and litter, if she refused to do that, then we'll bring her to the spot where she should litter, and talk to her or scold her. Slowly, she'll understand.

I have a cat and I have gotten him since he was a small kitten. He just learned on his own without us training him. I guess he's gifted..lol..I think there are those training pads you can buy in a pet store. Maybe you can start her of with that.

Hey hey !
Aww, I just love kittens ! They bring so much joy and can be so silly
My one cat had kittens and well with the little ones when they were old enough I put them in the litter and they would just play in it LOL. But every so often when you think they have to go to the bathroom put them in the box . I think it will be ok because over time they kinda just do and learn on their own . However , My brother found a wild cat and that thing cant be trained (what a pain)

I have heard in the past that putting a little of your own urine in the litter box will make the kitten use it but what I do is use a product called SHOO!!! if your kitten pees or poops somewhere other than the litter you pray the area after cleaning it ofcourse and they do not like the smell so they will not go in the area at all. another thing I did is keep the litter box in the bathroom because that is where we go to the bathroom so our smell is there even if we can't smell it they do and will tend to go there to go to the bathroom. I had a cat that would not use a covered litter box so if you have one that could be the problem.
Hope this helps
P.S. the shoo product will stop them from scratching things as well.
