Online Friendships

One of the amazing advantages brought by the Internet is the ability to forge friendships with people all over the world. People who surf regularly have probably experienced meeting someone else online, and then creating a sometimes very close bond with them. My question is: Do you make a lot of friends online? If so, how long have you been close friends with someone, at most - how long have you managed to mantain a friendship? Where have you met your friends online? I've been a friends online with a number of people - mostly through a forum I'm part of and an online game I used to play. I've been close friends with them when we find something in common to talk about, but it usually doesn't last long. I've had a few real friendships though that have lasted for about a year or a year and a half, and are still going. =P You? ^_^
