As some of you are aware, I'm on dial-up. I spend a lot of time here but with a slow connection, things progress slowly. Lately, no matter how hard I work and how good my posts and responses are, I'm getting less than one cent a post. While ever this situation exists, you will see less of my smiling, cheeky grin here. If things improve when I switch to broadband satellite in a week or so, then...hey, lookout! but till then, my heart is not in it. What are your thoughts on the time you've spent here lately? Do you find the discussions interesting?? Is the pay-scale decent for you?? I notice many of my friends are not here any more. Or they come and go. That's life I guess - everything changes.

MsTickle, I didn't make payout last month. And I only made less than $7 in November to make payout for December. I think the pay has really gone down. I had no trouble making good in the summer. But it's now taking 2 months to make less than I had been making in one month. I don't know what is going on or what is expected of us in order to make a little bit. I haven't really kept up with how many discussions I comment on in a day, but guess I should. That way I'd know how much I'm getting for each. I even started several discussions one day and had comments, but hardly made a difference in what I had been making. Lots of discussions are interesting. But, some of the categories you respond to are problematic, in that, if you express yourself like your feel, you are liable to get a minus. I've even lost a star when commenting either in Politics or Religion, and I love those categories. But it's not worth the hassle, waiting for someone to mark you a minus or something like that.

Hello Barb. I try to steer clear of controversial discussions. I found early on that if you disagree with the mainstream you will be attacked by rude, nasty, intolerant types. They tend to gang up too and I cannot handle myself well in those situations ...I won't go down to their level by responding so I just escape the scene.... I'm hoping with broadband that I can go a little faster and find some more interesting discussions to respond to. As for the star rating...I couldn't care less about it. It has no meaning for me...not mine or anyone elses. See you round mate...

It isn't that those discussions were controversial, at least not the way the poster wrote. But other people come in and make them controversial rather than just a discussion. I have yet to understand why people cannot just discuss something without getting in a battle over something. I've had discussions with people where we disagree but we talked civilly to each other! Some people just do not know how to do that, or just want to be right regardless.

Switching from dial up to broadband it's like manna from heaven, you don't realize just why you put up with dial up for so long, however you can never go back to dial up! I am not the most patient of wolves and I dial up did my head in literally, I was about to turn cuckoo! So I hear where you are coming from. In regards to Mylot, well I'll always be around! I love the friendship and count myself very fortunate to have lovely supportive friends that I have made, without Mylot my life would be so much emptier! I have never worried about the money, it's just a bonus, friendship alone is priceless! Yes life does change and people come and go but I have been lucky in that I have kept in touch with people who have left Mylot! I still find lots of interesting discussions to respond to and certainly more friends to become friendly with! Take heart my friend and hope you get broadband soon!

Oh wow...hold on because the best part of your life will begin when you have your own little place. I'm on my own and it's great! I don't have a lot of freedom because I have my pets but as for everything else...it's my own world. I can watch tv, surf the net, cook, bathe, clean....anytime I want without having to work round anyone else....YAY! All the best.

i really dont give a damn about the money per post. it isnt why im here. yeah, id agree the discussions created as of late are exceedingly lame and i dont waste my time responding to most of them. theres only so many times ya can discuss what browser you use before it becomes mind numbingly monotonous. far as not that many people being around..? it IS the holidays, people have lives and families.. and are spending their time with them and not glued to a computer. im cool with that.. as my own time here is slack for the same reasons.

Some days I spend more time here than other days, it just depends on what I have going on that day. I hope your service gets faster for you after you get the satellite serive. Would miss your smiling, cheeky grin! I haven't been here all that long, so I still find the discussions interesting. At least I respond to the ones I find that way. I can see, however, where seeing so many repeat questions could be tedious after a while. Have you tried adding different interests? Maybe you'd see some discussions that you hadn't seen before and find them interesting again. Hope you stay!

Hi there...thanks for the friendly comments. I'm hoping to explore the site more fully and try different avenues to find interesting posts once I'm caught up on my email alerts. I have heaps of interests (a lot of which I'm not really interested in per se but added them just to speed things up...lol). I will definitely stay but I may find other sites to spend time at.

Different people come here for different purposes. Some of them want to find fun here, some of them wnat to find help here, some of them just here for the different cultures, also, most of them want to get paid here. So, complains are always come up with for differernt reasons. I can't express my feeling about these, but once i am here, i want to be one of the member here.If i am in a good mood , i will spend a more time here, and post a more disccussions , and if not , i will just hang out somewhere. In my opinion, one has his own right to join or quit here when there is somthing wrong with mylot. Enjoy yourseves.

I know only too well the speed of having a dial-up ionternet connection, but that is all I can get where we live and so it is better than nothing at all. There appear to be times when it is slower than normal and that does not help much, more so if I am trying to find some really interesting discussions to respond to. The amount I get seems to vary from day to day plus for me there is the "added complication" of being in a different time zone to myLot. That means I am not realy sure what posts I am getting paid for at any one time, unless of course I am away for a couple of days and do not post. Then at least I will have some idea howoever other factors need to be considered I think. For example a few times my points have taken a bit of a dive and I am not sure what day's payment if affected, i.e. the day I made the psot or the day it is deleted. In many ways it does not matter really as I am here for a bit of fun, a good laugh and perhaps to exchange opinions with some interesting people. If I get paid well and good but it is not enough to make me want to sing and dance over. lol Good luck and I am envious that you will soon have broadband.

Thanks very much for giving me best response for this discussion. Both my partner and I are very envious that you will soon have broadband but even with the government subsidy for the satellite installation, we cannot justify the extra costs at this time. We simply do not use the internet enough under normal circumstances as we might not even turn it on for weeks at a time. Maybe in the future though.

So far th month the discussions are not up tp par as prior. The quality is not as gfpod as a week ago it seems. DSL will help a lot in your time responding etc I am sure. I do a lot better with it and it makes it more fun to be on myLot with a high spped connection. Good luck when you get yours hooked up. I am always here and am your firend? Hmmmm? im on the dreaded dial-up also. you know ive never tried to break down how much im earning per post. i just keep track of how many times ive responded each day..so i know im getting a bare minimum of them (hopefully lol) i figure that the fact that they are paying me to blab about things is a decent deal all things considered. sure i wish they paid more, but id rather be getting a little bit than nothing at all. in fact come the first of the year im gonna be spending more time here, just trying to make up for the money ill be missing out on from a site of mine that is closing..which is such a bummer. do you think that having a faster connection will truly make a difference?

Apparently Cinder, it makes a huge difference. I DO spend a fair bit of time waiting for pages to load even with several tabs open at once. I'm not a patient person...lol. I'm with you on the something is better than nothing deal too. There's something about this place too that keeps me coming back...can't tell you what it is though, I guess it's an addiction.

Wow, it's impressive that you reached more than 6300 posts by using just dial-up Internet connection. Using a broadband service I can manage about 10 to 15 posts per hour. Because I do not have any referrals and that I do not get much time to stay online I can manage only 50 to 60 posts per day. I want to do about and in 150 to 300 posts per day.

I am not really here for the earnings, so I don't really focus on that to much. I don't think anyone that is for earnings would stay to long, a few cents a day is harldly worth the time. The thing that mylot is good for is meeting new people and creating buzz for personal websites. Without spamming of course. I see many people like myself that interact regulary but there main focus is to create attention for another site, which is a great idea. I find just about all the discussions interesting on here. It is amazing what so many people around the world have to talk about. I noticed you are getting satellite internet, good for you. You should check and make sure that is the best provider in your area before you put out so much money for it. I know it is more expensive then regular. You can check and see all the providers in your area and there prices at www.myLocalDSL.com ,good luck here on mylot, I see you are an active member. Have a nice day.

Thanks for your help but I'm an Aussie so the site you linked is not of any use. I've been waiting a couple of years for just the right plan to come along and I have been researching all that time as to what exactly is available to me...and what I can afford. Actually, installation of the satellite and the set up cost is paid for by the government, all I have to worry about is the monthly cost. I have a budget and I like to pay annually so I stay ahead of things...

I just got broadband and I love it! Before all I had was dialup. For years. I am so glad I got it finally. I don't think the money is great here, but for me, every little bit helps. I think there are alot of interesting subjects that are posted. It is fun to respond to them, but that is just me. It has helped my typing skills, which haven't been used in a while. I am still searching for that ulitmate income earner online though.

Thanks. I hope you have the same luck. I never could have afforded it, but my cable company sent a flyer in the mail with an awsome deal. The internet is basically free and I have been waiting for years to get high speed! My computer is old, from 2001 I hope that someday I can get a new one. Then it will really be alot faster. But I am happy with the internet for now!

hi ms tickle! i did have the same problem when i was still with dial-up. i think my earnings are not worth it for the work and for the amount of money i spend on dial-up cards. anyway, i have dsl now and i use it for free. so it is good. however, the connection is still slow, which is the reason why i only have a few posts each day. i can't wait for too long just for a single discussion to load. but i still continue too, because by the end of the month, i do have some pocket money earned. so i continue with whatever online activities that i have here. take care and God bless! keep on mylotting! :-)

I'm still here hon. Not as much as I should be, but still here nonetheless. It took me 4 months to reach payout this time....that's how sporadic things have been for me. I don't blame you for not wanting to log on with dial up. It's a big pain. When you get the faster connection you will be ecstatic, that's for sure. Big hugs to you sweetie.

Hi Katlady ((((hugs)))). It's always lovely to see special friends here. I wish there were more of our old friends here. I'm a stayer but those I befriend along the way seem to fall off along the wayside. It's awful when someone you feel really close to disappears without a word. I have several email addresses but I never hear from anyone. Struggling along on dial-up is a big pain. I hope to be connected in about 2 weeks...just in time for my visitors arrival...lol

Hi MsTickle, I understand how frustrating this must be for you. I am not as active as I always used to be because of life stuff no other reason but I have noticed some days I seem to answer so many discussions and I move up by just a few cents and other days I will post a discussion and suddenly jump by a dollar so I would try posting more discussions and see if that makes a difference but I myself have noticed that a few people whom I was always in touch with through disussions no longer seem to be here. Hope broadband makes a differnece as I would miss you and Lucy if you weren't here. If there were no MsTickle who would make me chuckle? Huggles. Ellie :D

Then I am missing something guy...I don't see any humour here. I see people saying "that was just hilarious" and "I nearly spat out my soup I was laughing so hard" or, "I just about peed my pants from laughing" and I don't see the situation as funny at all. Now, I'm no sad sack...I have a wonderful, wacky and zany sense of humour. What is funny to me is sadly lacking from here. It's also rare to find something I can get my teeth into. Maybe I need to seek out more discussions other than my email alerts. Most of those are repetitive or simple ("what is your favourite....") or "I had a difficult day at work when..... How was your day?" Or there are endless Thanksgiving posts or posts about the American elections. I do sound miserable I guess...burnout perhaps...maybe a break is called for. Thanks for joining in.
