Hi there again! Your discussion got my attention because I wish to have a shih tzu on my Birthday. Anyways, if you are planning to give a pet dog to a girl, shih tzu is the perfect one for her. Perhaps, you might like the one I will attach in here.

It really depends what kind of dog your friend like, and where does he/she live. A small sized dog is good for keeping in the house, whereas a large sized dog is not so suitable as it needs lots of space to run around. If you'd like to keep it in the house, I think shih tzu is good, especially good for a girl. It's really cute, and easy to take care of, also good to be trained too. I have no idea about other dogs, as I only took care of a shih tzu before. I am having a yellow labrador, she is really lovely, but she won't sit properly just beside me, she will always jump at me and want to play with me. Unlike the little shih tzu, I can do whatever I want to do in the house, without being disturbed by her. ^_^

Are you SURE your friend wants that much responsibility thrust upon them? I don't mean to be a downer, but a dog's a LOT of work and unless you know for certain that the animal is wanted, please please please reconsider. (Coincidentally, my article on this very subject just got posted on AC, lol!!) On the other hand, if you're absolutely sure, how about not buying one? Why not take the friend to your local rescue place and let him/her pick one out instead? As they say, 'A dog is for life, not just for Christmas'.
