Library or bookstore?

Do you prefer to buy books or borrow them? I used to buy books all the time, but there were several times I would buy a book and realiz after the first chapter it was not my thing. And then there is the problem of (if you are an avid reader like me) keeping the books you buy. I just cannot seem to let go of the ones I purchase. One I bought recently at a thift store for a whopping 25 cents and I had no problem giving that one away. I was proud of myself when the co worker said she'd bring it back and I said no give it to someone else. Now I predominantly use my local library for books to read. If they do not have it they will in a few days by doing an inner library loan. And if by some chance I find a set of books (or series) I want to own I will just check online for them for a cheaper cost. So do you buy or borrow?

Library! I seldom let anybody borrow my stuff because its never returned in the same condition. Plus, the library has everything I need. I'm glad you've found the library to be a useful tool. I go there almost everyday, I'm either picking something up or returning something.

I do borrow books from the library but I always forget to take them back to the library and I end up getting a big fine. I do buy books, I tend to buy £1.99 books from cheap shops and then if I don't like them it doesn't matter so much and I either pass them on or give them to a charity shop. I have loads and loads of books up stairs in the cupboeards, far too many to go on a bookshelf

Hello taface. I usually buy books that are related to my teaching purpose. I don't like to buy books beyond my teaching, but I used to. I think that books beyond my teaching are better to be borrowed from the school library so that I don't have to buy a lot of books that will be placed on the bookshelf after reading without touching them again. Happy reading and posting, friend.

I usually will borrow books from my local library. If it is a book I particularly enjoy then I will buy it somewhere. You can get fantastic deals on Ebay when buying used books.

I'll buy books if I know that I'll really like them and most likely will re-read them. But if I'm not sure if I'll like it, then I'll just go to the local library and borrow it.

I would choose library if I'm going to look for the books which is too old. I mean if I am going to look for a century past information. Library contains all kinds of books that are called "timeless". I just remembered that we once ask by our high school teacher to look for the information s about the firs man that exist in our world. I tried to visit bookstores but I can't find one. That's the time I went to our national library and there I have it, I found all the information that I needed for my research. But when it comes to the books which I want to read, I would prefer to buy that book because it's just a waste of time t go in the librarthe book, you can bring it with you anytime.

I have never been to our local library, I don't even know if we have any in our place. But I love books and I buy a lot of them. There are times when I have encountered a similar situation as yours, when I bought a book and realized that it does not really contain the information that I need. I am more careful now, since buying books i don't really have any use of is a waste of money. Good thing there are already bookstores that allows you to read through the books and if you are satisfied then you can buy them. They have couches and chairs where you can sit while you read. Some people just go there and spends the whole day reading books. If you don't have the budget then you can just finish the book there so you won't have to spend anything. In effect, its just like a library too except you can't borrow the book. hehe
