I have never seen Frailty or Martin. Are they scary movies? Out of your list, definately the scariest movie is The Exorcist. It still scares me everytime I see it. I saw Grudge 2 and I didn't like it. Scream 1 is more of a comedy/horror movie. Some movies you should add to your list is the Hostel and SAW franchises.

I don't know if people would consider this scary but one of the most suspenseful films I ever saw was "Wait Until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn.
The first scary movie I can think of when I was really young it may not seem scary now was "Black Christmas." (The ending as the credits rolled creeped me out.)
A few others, Psycho, Rosemary's Baby,(I guess I'm dating myself) and David Lynch's Lost Highway.

The Exorcist is definitely one of the scariest movies ever. I think Misery and The Shining(Stanley Kubrick version) are pretty scary too, but the books do them more justice. Psycho is a classic and adds a little more horror since it is in black n white. But, I think most people will have different things that trigger the terror in them more than others.
