I wear reading glasses for fine print like on prescription and medicine bottle instructions. Also when the font and the background are too close for comfort. Most of the time, I do not. I have not tried contact lenses, as it is easier to reach in my purse for my glasses then fiddle around with my eyes.

I have some astigmatism and I have double vision when I get too tired, so I am getting a prescription reading glasses, so hope they will help especially when reading something when the light is dim. (My husband is near sighted, and can read if it is almost dark, but I cannot.)

Try not to read or work when you are very tired. Hope this gets cured fully. It could be due to weakness too.

i started wearing glasses in junior high, due to an accident. fell off the tailgate of a pickup truck, hit my head and damaged the main optic nerve. i have also had contacts in the past, which i loved, but since my eyesight has changed in th pat few years, actually need bi-focals, i don't wear contacts.

As we are not quite on the metric system here yet, we call that 20-20 and no, I started wearing glasses when quite young, and hated them of course, then switched to contact lenses, and only in recent years have I gone back to regular eyeglasses. They make them so much lighter and nicer looking now that it is less trouble to wear them than the contacts, especially since we are in a windy area with quite a bit of dust.

Hey daffodil! I wear glasses! I can't see a thing without
them! I wear one pair to read and another to just plain
see where I'm going! If I take one pair off I need another
to find the pair that I just took off! It's really terrible!
I have blurry vision all the time! I need 2 different
prescriptions. I am farsighted for reading and myopic which
means just to see what is in front of me! This only happened
when I reached 40. When I reached 40 I started needing glasses
to read only and then every year it got worse until now when
I need glasses for everything. That's not bad because I went
40 years without any glasses at all!

I wear glasses and have never had the desire to wear contacts. Some people are bothered by how they look in glasses. I'm just the opposite. I think that they make me look more credible and more professional. I wouldn't consider investing in contacts but might consider the laser surgery

Even glasses come in so many treny frames that make you look nice and hep. What does laser surgery do.Can it heal and perfect the sight?

Laser surgery is vision correction surgery. After you have it, you no longer have to wear glasses. Not everyone is a good candidate and it can be a bit pricey but if you consider that you would never have to buy glasses again, I think that it pretty much evens out

I have been wearing glasses for around ten years now and need them for seeing distant objects. I don't need to wear them while reading a book or to see the PC screen, but I do need them for TV and movies and things like that. I have never actually worn contact lenses before and have no intentions of doing so. Both my Mother and my Sister wear them from time to time but it all sounds like too much hard work to me! lol. I also don't like the idea of fiddling around with my eyes either. It would be nice to be able to wear sunglasses though!

Yeah your pic on profile page shows you with your glasses. Lenses feel like invaders. I can imagine. Its so hard when a tiny dust particle enters the eye. Wearing contact lenses must be a similar kind of feeling. I think so.I don't know exactly how difficult it feels. Nowadays don't we get photochrome glasses which turn into sunglasses in broad daylight? My Dad wears them. Or am I mistaken? No I don't think he changes his glasses in sunlight. Gradually they turn dark.Only you ned to get the right frame which can pass of as both.

Hello Daffodil. I wear near-sighted glasses whenever I am up, except that I am sleeping or showering. I don't like to wear contact lenses as I won't feel comfortable with something extra in my eyes. Take care, friend.

I only have contact lenses, which I rarely use. I don't own a pair of glasses because my short-sightedness is not constant. I only cant see clearly when it's school term. But when it's holiday, my eyes can slowly return to normal. But I only wear contact lenses when it's really necessary because it dries up easily and makes eyes tired.

During holidays your sight is normal.Hmmmm thats interesting and clearly shows that the over stress during the school term is aggravating the problem. I feel you should take the help of an optician. It seems you require to wear glasses permanently friend!

I've worn glasses since I was 9 and I got my first pair of contacts when I was 11. So, I've had experience with both. Like others on here, I have no choice but to wear some form of lens. I'm practically blind without any. I'm very near-sided and everything is blurry without them. I can get a headache fairly easily without lenses. As for comfort it all depends on the day. If I'm driving and it's bright outside, I prefer to wear contacts because there's no glare on my glasses and I can wear any pair of sunglasses I want with them. If I'm sitting around the house on a day off I will usually wear my glasses. It all depends. Once you get used to contact lenses they're not a hassle. I can usually get mine on in about 30 seconds. So, I will wear either or depending on the day and how ambitious I am!

You should protect your eyes from glaring light. Wearing glasses while reading would do no harm either?

Most I wearing is specs, because when I 1st time wearing contact lenses when I was study at secondary school, it damn hard to reading, not because of its quality is because of it sharp! It make my eye not comfortable, afterward my parents just buying for me the specs, it more easy to take it off!

I wear glasses when I am working on the computer. I can see close up fine but not at a distance so when working on crafts, I prefer not to wear glasses or contacts. I wear contact lenses when I am out for the evening or driving at night. If I do detailed work with my contacts in, I need reading glasses. It sounds confusing and maybe I'm not making myself real clear here. Bottom line is I wear both.

I started wearing glasses when I was about 22. I switched to contacts which I prefer for practical reasons, but since I had an infection in my eye I'm not allowed to wear contacts anymore. I'll be picking up a new pair of glasses tomorrow, after which I'll switch between glasses and contacts.
Contacts take a bit of getting used to. Even then they aren't always comfortable, but for the most part I'm used to them. The only problem is they can dry out your eyes very quickly.

i wear glasses for reading, which is sad because i feel like my mother when i use them and im only 18. They are square charcoal black frames, they are kinda boring.
my favorite glasses however, are my sunglasses. OAKLEYS!! I love them, orange polarized lens, metalic ruby red frames with white ear sleeves...

Oh No! You have to wear specs at 18. Hey but shall I tell you something? If you follow your Optician's instructions you might get rid of it for good within a year or so. But it depends how weak your sight is at present. Why don't you get these funky ones! The photochromatic ones. My Dad wears such power glasses which turn dark in sunlight and looks pretty cool.

I never knew what vision my eye was, or is, but I know I don't wear reading glasses. I'm suppose to be wearing glasses right now now so I can see far away, but my glasses were broken during a tornado. I accidentally step on them while I was running to hide from the tornado.., but I'm getting some more when I take my vision test over.

i think for every person the eyesight will not be equal to 6/6 so there will be some kind of error for every person . i was wearing the specs but now i am not using it completely and using it only partly when my eye gets stressed . i think some people might be using the specs like me
