Ah yes, the infamous Montreal Screwjob. You should read Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels' books. I'm sure they talk about it. I haven't read either of their books, to tell the truth, but I'm sure they would be interesting. I've read (on insider sites.) that Undertaker told Vince he needed to apologize to Bret and face him like a man. Vince went to Bret's locker room accompanied by Shane McMahon, Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson, Sgt. Slaughter and some other officials. Bret Hart was backed by Owen, British Bulldog, Jim Neidhart and Rick Rude. Bret said he was going to take a shower and if Vince was still here, he'd knock him out. Well, Vince didn't leave and Bret knocked him out with an uppercut. Bret also stated in a recent interview that HBK was in his locker room crying in a corner because he thought he was going to get killed. It's all really intriguing stuff.

i'm a big hitman fan. i really like his wrestling style even when he was still with jim neidhart as one-half of the hart foundation. even then, you can see that bret had potential to be a great singles competitor. i really like his stint as intercontinental champion particularly his match against irs. of course, he made a name for himself as a world champion and he had great matches against razor ramon, hbk, and diesel. another great rivalry that i remember was bret's rivalry against bad news brown. bret is one of the best technical wrestlers and it was a shame that the montreal screw job happened to him. i never got to watch him much when he was in the wcw. anyway, i doubt if bret ever stages a comeback in the wwe but that will be great in my opinion.

Bret Hart is a great wrestler and I remember always cheering for him. The match you are talking about was his match against Shawn Michaels. It is famously called "The Montreal Screwjob". Vince told Bret before the match that he was going to win the match. Bret knew that he was going to WCW in a couple of weeks and Vince found out about this. Bret was WWF champion at this time. So Vince thought of an idea. When Shawn got Bret into a submission hold, Vince called for the bell indicating that Bret tapped. He never did. Shawn Michaels was the new champ. Bret was extremely angry at this that he spit in Vince's face.

That match was the "Montreal Screwjob" as it's famously known now. It was the Survivor Series main event between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. It was Bret's last night before moving to WCW because he was given a much bigger offer and decided to leave the WWF/WWE at that time. Vince had been asking Bret to drop the title since he's moving to WCW already but he refused since he doesn't want to "look weak" in front of his hometown fans in Canada. Many people felt that it was not the true reason and instead it was because of the real life animosity that he had with Shawn Michaels. Vince, Shawn, and a few others discussed the possibility of having to screw Bret Hart in order to prevent another title throwing fiasco from happening [a former women's champion Alundra Blayze jumped ship to WCW and threw the Women's title in the trash can live on WCW Nitro]. Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart laid out their match and when Bret brought up the idea of having Shawn place the sharpshooter on him and Bret reversing it a little later, that's when the bell rung on HBK's head. He tipped off Vince McMahon and the referee, Earl Hebner, and history was made. It has been over a decade and Bret still hasn't gotten over it. Shawn has been known to try to mend the fences but I guess, Bret isn't budging.
