I just spent a couple days in Dakar, Senagal on business. I thought that the beaches were nice. I got a chance to go deep sea fishing, although I did not catch anything. We did see about a hundred dolphins jumping around the boat and riding the wake of the boat. That was a pretty good experience.
Although, I had a good experience, it always surprises me how the friendly and positive the people are there...despite the overwhelming poverty. Africa is a place that needs our help to raise these people out of where they are now.

I would love to see this land. Yes, I think a lot of people all over the world needs help, but I think that America needs to help itself first. There are lots of people here who are in poverty and living very meagerly. It's sad that America doesn't help those in its own neighborhood before shipping funds overseas... :(

Well I agree with you partly. We Americans really do not know what poverty is. In the US there are avenues to better your life, all that a person has to do is to take those avenues and work hard. In most developing countries, even hard work will not help them because the government is corrupt or crime is rampant. So you are right, we have a responsibility to help those who can not help themselves, but those that refuse to take those avenues do not deserve my help.

I have never been anywhere except the land of my birth and it would be a great experience to see a different country. I do know that beauty and poverty exists side by side in many countries.

I probably have never been anywhere except for my job sending me. I think that there are many things to experience all over the world. I would hope that we could help these people avoid the mistakes that we have made in our development.
