What is so great about a Wii?

My wife has been running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get a Wii for the kids. What is the big deal? I wouldn't care if they got a Xbox or Playstation, but no, it has to be a Wii. I really don't think they will care either. They just want something to play. I don't know if I am going to like the having to move around while playing a game deal. I am athletic, but I want to sit down a relax when I play a video game.
Does anyone else have this issue? What happend to the simple games like Atari 2600? LOL

Well I guess if you're going to plant your children in front of a video game system for hours on end then the Wii would give them a little excercise anyway! I think it's nuts myself. My youngest son whom works part time and is still at home bought one for himself with his first paycheck. I think getting a Wii was his primary motivation for getting a job! LOL I got both of my kids game systems when they were younger but I swore them off after I had bought two systems for both kids. Then they were on their own.
He came in the other day and told his dad that he wanted to close off the back of our garage so he could just have a game room for him and his friends and that way they would have plenty of room to move around play and not disturb us downstairs (considerate little fella huh). Dad's response was "Get a Life" LOL
They are very popuplar but way overpriced.

The Wii is way to expensive due to its popularity at the moment. I do not own one and likely never will. But i am curious about the Wii fit that is used with it. Has anyone tried Wii fit?

We have a Wii and I love it. We also have a PlayStation 2. My boyfriend played that, but I could never get into it. I don’t know if it was the games we had or what.
Now that we have the Wii, I actually play it. It is a lot of fun and they have a lot of games. The lower quality, but still fun games are a lot cheaper (like around $20).
What I like most about the Wii is that we can play it as a family. My daughter is almost five and we do the bowling game together as a family, so it is pretty neat.

Well, the Wii is a little more kid-friendly than XBox or Playstation consoles. I have 5 game systems in all. I don't play them all all the time or anything, but they are especially great to have in the winter time when it is too cold to go outside (I live in Iowa. It's like 5 degrees outside. Brrr...). Anyway, I looked around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to find a Wii, and it wasn't even for my kid! lol. I'm glad I have it so my son can play it when he gets a little older. He likes to play baseball on it so far. I like it okay. I haven't played it that much, though. It is pretty fun playing tennis and Rayman on it, though. I have been trying to find decent games for it. The vast majority of the games are for kids, so I can understand your wife wanting that system for the kids. However, it's not like she can't wait until after Christmas to find a Wii. I was lucky enough to call a store the day they got a shipment in and they held the system for me until I got their to pay for it.

well if you find out let me know. All I've been seeing and hearing is Wii Wii Wii. Knowing kids though its probably because its the "popular" thing to do and they want to fit in.
