Do you think The Catcher in the Rye should be a banned book?

I personally do not. I really like the book. I can relate to this book a lot. It interests me. I was surprised when my English teacher told me that this book has been banned in a lot of places. Of course, that was before I started the book. I am now half way through the book and understand why, but I think all teenagers should read it. It's a great book. What do you think?

I've never heard that it was banned Good luck for them though because people will find a way to get it banned or not.

Yes it has been banned by some schools and libraries. I see why it is, but I personally don't think it should be, because that is basically the kind of society we live in today, and Holden is the typical teenager.

I don't believe in banning books. If a kid is old enough to read he should be allowed to read anything he wants.
The list is endless.
Some books that have been banned are:

Little Red-Cap story from Grimm's Fairy Tales,
Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn,
Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind,
George Eliot's Silas Marner.
I've read all of them. I found Silas Marner to be a captivating story. It's Eliot's best work in my opinion. I recommend everyone read it.
I read some books that most adults wouldn't approve of when I was young. It didn't harm me. They weren't classics like The Catcher in the Rye. They were pure trash like The Happy Hooker.

I am reading it right now and well it is a really good book. My teacher told me that it was a banned book because of all the language that it has in it. I think that no books should be banned for the content that they have in them. It is called the freedom of speech as well as the freedom of the press so yeah a book is a book. If it doesn't have some good message in it or something that makes it educational in some way it wouldn't have teachers wanting to use it in there clases.
