Former Florida Governor and President George W. Bush's younger brother Jeb Bush told Politico by e-mail Tuesday night, "I am considering it," when asked if he would run for the U.S Senate seat that will be vacated by retiring Republican Mel Martinez.

There have been some who have speculated that Jeb's political future may be in doubt because of the unpopularity of his brother George. It's also long been speculated that Jeb has always been his parents' "favorite son" and the one they had expected to have the most success in politics.
I know anyone here who knows me knows I'm a Democrat but the truth is I actually kind of LIKE Jeb Bush and I've always felt he was much more intelligent and articulate than his brother. Believe it or not I've felt some sympathy for him thinking his brother's Presidency may have destroyed his chances of holding a higher office ever again. What do you think - is there too much "Bush fatigue" for another Bush to ever make it back to Washington D.C. or could Jeb's popularity in Florida carry him there?

It depends on how popular he is in his state and how much his brother hurt his reputation. I feel bad for him. Because of this brother and carrying the bush name it will be hard for him to get ahead in politics. He is really going to have to step out and show that he is different that his brother. IT will not be easy and it will probly be an uphill battle for him.
Plus a lot of people think he handed florida to his brother so he could win the presidency during that hottly contested election. He will have to try and over come that one too.

As a Floridian I really wasn't too thrilled with him as a governor. I think he did a poor job with the educational system here especially regarding the treatment of teachers. It made me really study Charlie Crist carefully before voting for him after Bush's endorsement. That said he had high approval ratings and I think he finished around 70% as governor. As a senator he'd probably be a shoe in since name recognition is critical and he's following behind Mel Martinez.

I'd heard that, how the people of Florida won't "hold it against him" so much for his brother's failures since they know him in his own right. I don't know a whole lot of details about his time as Governor of Florida but I do know he doesn't seem to be much like his older brother. I mean that as a compliment...lol!

We can only hope that he moves to Texas and runs for the Senate. After what he did here, we don't need anymore influence of a bush. Besides, we are in a drought and can't afford to water any more bushes.

Good one! I don't think any of us can afford to water any more Bushes...lol! We're Bushwhacked not to mention plain BUSHED! Gee, they have the perfect name for this stuff, don't they?
Regarding Hillary moving to New York instead of running from the state she hadn't lived in for many years(Ill.) or the one where she was First Lady (AR), at least she lived in New York and spent more than 17 days there in 6 years like Elizabeth Dole did in NC...lol! Hey, when I first heard of Martinez's plans to retire from the Senate my first thought was that Sarah Palin would move to Florida!

I don't really know much about this Bush but, maybe in Florida they like him better there than the president. I only remember his child being in trouble over something. It would be interesting to see lol

Remember when Jeb Bush helped the Dub get elected by changing the results of his state's vote? That was kind of crooked.
The Bush family is all crooked and we're fools if we elect ANY of them to ANY capacity again.
Look at the lineage: Samuel Prescott Bush, Prescott Sheldon Bush, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush. Nothing but banking, media and oil....oh, and politics. Where's the 'for the people' part? I think it's become 'for the Bush people, by the people'.
Truly, it does not matter if people vote for him or not, if they need him in that position, he'll get it...and he'll be our president sometime down the line if that's what they want.
All Heil President Bush XIV!! These guys rule us.
Happy MyLotting!

Money controls a great deal of politics whether we choose to believe it or not and you better believe anybody in the Bush family has a significant amount. They have made devastating choices that have affected our country drastically for the worse, so don't think that just because he may become a first time senator he won't have any influence. With as much of the Bush family that has been in government before, there is no doubt there that it would be easier to make a change in line with the bush administrations beliefs happen.
