Do you have this habit?

When someone is leaving your house, will you wait at the gate until they have left your house? or you'll just go back to your house, before you get disappear within your sight? I always have this habit, I'll wait until the person finally left my house, the car drove away, then only I'll go back to my house. Sometimes I even need to take a few minutes for them to start the car, and drive away the car. I realize some people don't do this, they will just go back to their house after I leave their house. How about you?

I always stand at the door until they pull away in their vehicle. I was raisedthat way, and I guess it is just engrained in me.

I do the same to you. I will wait for my friend to be out of my sight before going inside the house. I guess it's better. It's a sign that you respect your friend by doing it. Although others are not practicing it now.

Hello grandpa bob! So sad there is no snow here. But if it's raining, I'll do what you did, just stay at our door and wait for my friend to be out of my sight before closing it.

I prefer to see them off. It just seems cold to close the door on them. I mean I am already at home, I am not in a hurry to get anywhere LOL

I have the habit of standing at the door, until I no longer see the vehicle. It's something I've always seen my parents do, when we had guests when they were leaving. So, I just started doing it as well.

It probably is a good habit to leave your guests to the door. A last bye bye is much appreciated at times. On the other hand I find it a sign of good-riddance when someone just closes the door the moment a guest leaves. This only shows how painful and unwanted their presence was. I think every guests should be cared and relieved in the right manner and appreciation.

Normally I don't even walk people to the door. They just kind of come and go as they please.

Don't you need to close and lock the door? Your friends must be really familiar with your house. ^_^

It really depends on who that person is if I wait that long or not. If it is an older person taht could fall. I will wait til they driove off. If it is an in law I knwo ahas a habit of having sticky fingers. I will walk them out and wait til they leave. If they have small children I will help get the kids in the vehicle then wave good bye. But I will say if for some reason I do not wait, I will be looking through my blinds and watching them leave.

At this time of the year, no I won't and don't do this. It is way too cold outside to stand waiting for them to leave. When it's nicer outside I'll sit or stand on my front deck waiting though. I think it is a sign of common courtesy is why I do it. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't necessary wait outside, sometimes I just stay inside and watch until the car left. Especially when I am alone, my friends will ask me to lock the door, and stay inside the house.

Hello, kaka135. When somebody is leaving my house, I will go outside and wait for them to disappear. I do not enter and let them go on their own. I don't know why, but I think it is rude to just let the person go out and then you run inside. You should wait until the person disappears. That's the way it happens here, and I got used to this habit. Now I do it everytime somebody comes home. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

IK would always see my guests to their car and do not leave until they have left. I consider that to do otherwise is very bad manners. Blessings!

Depends on who it is. Sometimes if it is someone that I haven't seen for a long time, but they mean alot to me, then yes I will wait until they have driven off and other times, if its someone I do see frequently and/or a person that I do not know very well, I'm happy to say goodbye quickly and get back into my home at my own convenience

It depends who is the guy leaving the house.. (actually it isnt a house but a flat Im living in..) If it was a very kind guest of mine, of course a wait until he leaves. Maybe I go with him/her to the car and wait there. If the guest comes regularly than I dont wait, I go back or stay in my flat. It depends on the exact situation. As I said I live in a flat, I think this effect the situation because at my weekend house I wait more often until the guest leaves.

hi kaka! well, in our case, we go to the gate with the guest and let them go away or ride their car before we go back inside the house. i dunno, i guess we just think it is good manners. i dunno, it is not really said or declared, but it is something that we practice. worked well and it is not such a hassle anyway. and then we can say our last good byes for the time being. take care and God bless you! :-)

Yes we always wait until our visitors have left before we go inside. There are a couple of reasons for this and we actually have several types of visitors to our place as well. First there are our friends and we see it as a sign of respect to wait until they have left plus we often continue to talk as they walk to their car. There are occassions when our time is limited and we feel taking those couple of minutes makes for a better friendship ... even if we have rushed them out the door as we have to pack our produce for market or something like that. Then there are the customers who come to buy either our fresh fruit and vegtables or some of the jams, preserves, sacuces etc that we make. We wait until they have left and lock up the packing sheds, store room and cool room. Again that is kind of like respect or trust as it is a bit rude to do those things while the customer is standing there. Plus sometimes they decide at the last minute to buy something else. lol Then there are those people who just call in looking for something or someone. It is often that we do not know these people so we certainly wait to see that they are off our property before we go inside.

I always wait at the gate until they have left my house. I thinks it is impolite to go back before your friend leave. sometimes, I notice some friend only stay in the safa when their friend want to leave, without see them off. it is very very impolite.
