It depends. I seldom need to write a letter now, ever since after I start using email. I remember those days before I have computers at home, I write all letters using pen. I had a few pen pals including one of my primary school class mate. I still keep those letters at home, for rememberance of the childhood friendship . After I got used to using the computer, now I prefer typing using text editing software i.e. the Microsoft Word. It's because my hand-writing is not good. Secondly, I feel that my it would messy when I make some mistakes and need to cancel it off. So, it would be very neat if I compose it using the text editor and print if after it's complete. Besides, the spelling checking is very much helpful to eliminate typo errors in my letter too!

If I am writing a short notes, then I would prefer using handwriting. Because it will save me all the problem of starting up my computer, typing and printing. Besides, I can even do some simple drawing or sketching, for quick illustration, because a picture worth a thousand words.

Hello youless. I seldom write a letter now. I guess that that a long time ago before I started to use the Internet and before the popularity of using cell phones. So I use either the Internet to send emails or cell phones to make phone calls to my friends and family and relatives instead. It is fast and effective. This traditional way of writing letters is getting away from me gradually though not completely. Keep warm, youless.

actually I don't write at all really. If I am writing a letter it's more personal to hand write than to type it out on the computer and print it out.

Hi Youless,I am a lazy person when it comes to letter writng.........I only write letters when it is absolutely esssntial. Then I write either on a paper,or take a computer print out depending on the necessity. But if talking over phone is a good substitute for letter writng, then I always opt for that................

It's sad in a way isn't it my friend that with all this technology, the art of writing a letter has really gone out of fashion, it's all emails now isn't it! It's very rare if at all that I receive a written letter, and I myself very rarely write letters, everything is all done by computers now isn't it! Even Christmas cards have turned into Ecards by computer! Do you think one day that writing letters and cards will practically die out? I used to love receiving letters in the post, now emails are great but they are not the same as a personally written out letter are they?

For business letters I always type them out on my computer using MS Word. For personal letters I will hand write them for more personalization.

I prefer to type using a wordprocessor on a computer. I type faster and besides that my handwriting is illegible at times. I only use a pen when I want to write a card a birthday or a christmas or a wedding card.

When I was younger, I used to love writing letter a lot. I always buy stationeries and I would write letters to my friends. But now, I don't have any more time to write plus with the internet, email or internet messengers are a lot faster, SMS thru cellphones are also easy ways to communicate with friends. I mostly prefer to type, instead of writing, my handwriting is not that good anyway hehe.

It really depends on what kind of letter. If it's a company letter, then no choice but to use the computer, but if it's a personal one, I would definitely use a pen, because I like writing too! *smiles*

Hello, Youless.
I find it pretty rare to write a letter. Nowadays, letters are becoming the last kind of communication used. However, if I am writing a letter to somebody I know and there is no need for it to be formal, I will write it with a pen instead of using the computer. It also adds the sensation that you spent time and effort while writing it. I don't know, it makes the reader feels better than if he received a computer-typed letter.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

I usually write a letter to use a pen. Now many people use a computer to print a leeter, but i think we should use a pen to write a letter, in this way we can improve our relationship between us.

I use the computer for all business and non personal letters. I prefer to hand write a personal letter or note, it is so much nicer this way.

Hi, youless! people have become more likely to use a cellphone or email rather than a handwritten letter to keep in touch with each other..but sometimes i would like to write a letter by a pen to my friend as it seems to be more friendly and more concerned..plus, we can review them anytime and anywhere, no matter whether we have access to a handheld or the internet..however,it takes much more time to receive the letter than send an eamil...have a nice day and happy mylotting!

When I was younger I had lots of penfriends and we used to exchange handwritten letters. I still like to write letters, but many of those letters have become emails instead. I still send handwritten letters to some of my friends, but it doesn't happen very often anymore, I tend to write emails instead. I sometimes type a letter on the computer and print it out but I think that handwritten letters are much more personal.
