What were you wedding colors?

In the US, it is traditional for the wedding party (attendants, maid of honor, best man, ushers etc.) to wear coordinating colors during the wedding. My three bridesmaids and my maid of honor all wore royal blue satin dresses. The men were all in black tuxes and black ties with my groom wearing tails . How about you? How big was your wedding? How many attendants did you have? Were they color coordinated or casual? What were your wedding colors?

Back it the 70's it was the "in" thing for the men to have ruffles on their shirts with their colored tuxes! Mine was light blue tuxes and white ruffles trimmed in light blue edging! I look back at my wedding pics and think, lord have mercy, the men looked like a bunch of yahoos! My dress was a beautiful hoop skirt, nothing ornate and it was just gorgous southern style dress, but now, everything is off the shoulder, hanging down low - and I think, dont those women want to keep anything "secret" for the wedding night?!! LOL!! But I hear that now it is "proper" to have the bridesmaids wear different colors - pretty much anything they want, not a uniform wedding party. Also, if the same style dress, all different colors not all in the same color. So things change, but I have to say, that the men look better these days in their black tuxes but the women in their slim to nothing above the waist dresses, just is rather not to romantic to me.

I had a very casual wedding at the court house 40 years ago.. I wore yellow as it was my favorite color.. My husband wore dress slacks and a dress shirt, I don't remember what color they were but I do remember my yellow sheath dress, that was so in style in 1968.. I weighed 104 lbs and it looked pretty good on my skinny frame, even though I couldn't fit in it now.. I never wanted a big wedding, so this was perfect for us.. I still have the same husband that I had 40 years ago, so I guess the yellow worked for him..

i had two girls in my wedding party and they wore royal blue (ok, it was 21 years ago) and the guys wore grey tuxs and seriously, if i had to do it over again, i would just wear a short dress and probably pick another colour! i heard of a wedding where everyone wore jeans and shorts and they had a bbq for the reception...how great is that?

In the Philippines there is a color motif. It could be just one or 2 or 3 whatever the bride or the couple wishes. In my wedding I only had one color motif. I did not use my favorite color which is green but rather I used red. I just followed what my godmother told me. She said that red stands for prosperity and good luck so I followed the red motif. I was not actually believing in luck but I was so shy to contradict what my godmother told me so anyway it is just a color so I just conformed. anyway the color turned out so alive when combined with white. The maid of honor, the bridesmaid and my sponsors were all wearing white with red combination. The best man and all groom's men were in black pants and native " barong tagalog". My wedding was actually a grand wedding...attended by around 750 people. My hubby and I were classmates in high school so all our classmates were invited. And all the members of our church, and our friends and relatives.

That's a HUGE wedding! That's a lot of food! Brides here generally choose a color motif too. It usually all coordinates with our flowers and everything. We do not generally have colors that respresent anything in particular. Rather the color is just chosen by the bride as a preference. Many people will color coordinate with the seasons (red and green near christmas, brown, orange, rust etc. for autumn, red for valentine's day weddings) etc.

Small wedding well under 50 people. It was in December and the storm was coming. My wife to be prayed that there would be no snow during the wedding. Wouldn't you know it but the sky opened up not a cloud in the sky during the wedding. By 6pm that night there was a major storm that shut down parts of the province. There were 4 each for the wedding party. The women were color coordinated and the men were in suits. The wedding color was Fuchsia. As my wife is from the Philippines we had "Lechon" which is a roast pig stuffed with the apple and all. This caused no end of stress for the "kitchen crew" who were all Canadian. They were unsure what to do with the "head" and were afraid of causing an international incident as half the room was from the Philippines!

My wedding colors were red and white. I got married at the end of December. The Church was swathed in red poinsettias(all donations from church families and didn't cost us a cent ~ perk!). My attendant wore red, I wore white and all the men wore black. I had one attendant, my husbands best man, a flower girl and ring bearer plus two additional ushers. The flower girls dress had a red velvet bodice and then a balloon skirt of Christmas plaid. It all looked stunning in photographs. It was an evening wedding, very festive and Christmassy. I loved my wedding!

what a wonderful wedding you had Rocket. Mine was on a budget. I made my dress which was full length with a train. I had one page boy who was dressed in royal blue satin pants and a white shirt. The two bridesmaids were dressed in pink. I had pink flowers and the cake was in pink and white. My husband was going to move into my apartment and I woke up that morning realising that I did not have any clean sheets. So I had to go to the launderette to get them washed. I then went to the hairdresser who was going to do a fabulous style with my hair. He was French and very creative. Guess what? He was sick. So my long dark hair was just washed and the headdress put in before my brother in law came to collect me. I dressed at my sister's house. I was married in London and we re visited the scene of the crime as my husband called it, to celebrate our 25th anniversary. There were about 100 people there and the reception went on to the wee hours of the morning. Everyone had a good time.

i had a maid of honor. i made her a royal blue skirt with a matching royal blue shirt. i made my son his suit (pants, suit jacket, tuxedo shirt, royal blue colored bow tie and royal blue colored cumberbund). My son was the ring bearer. my fiance bought black pants and a black jacket and then i made him a tuxedo shirt and royal blue colored bow tie and royal blue cumberbund. this way his and my son matched. his best man and 1 groomsman wore black pants with black jackets and white shirts and i made them royal blue colored bow ties as well.

I am not yet married and so far, not yet getting married but I already have in mind what would be my wedding motif in the future. My favorite color is purple and pink. So I am thinking of combining the two colors for my wedding motif.:-)

In China, the bride will have change dress during the wedding at least 3 times. Our custom is the day before wedding day,the bride and groom will not meet each other. And in the morning of the wedding day,the groom must come from their new house to the bride's parents home and receive his bride. The bride will dress the white dress. Then, the bride and many of her friends and relatives will drive to the new couples new house before they go to the restaurant to treat all their customers. On the bender, the new couple will toast every customer. The bride will change a red dress for toast. In China people like red colour because it means prosperous. After the bender, the new couple will stand out of the gate of restaurant to send-off the customers. At that time, the bride will change into a daily suit also red colour. It is very complicated.

The ushers wore black tuxes with burgundy cummerbunds and my husband wore a black tux with tails.. my bouquet had matching colors in it as well as white roses. everything seemed to match.. my 4 tier wedding cake had dusty rose and burgundy roses on it as well :)

Well, I didn't marry yet but I have some plans for my wedding.. I don't want to wear white gown since wearing white gown are so traditional.. I want something new.. I want to wear my favorite color which is blue then with a combination of pink or white.. It depends upon the design of my wedding gown.. I want my gown just very simple since I will just used it once.. Then for my maid of honor and bridesmaids I want them to wear pink gowns a very light color pink.. Then for men a blue barong tagalog will be great.. Then for my groom, I want him to wear black tuxedo with neck tie of course.. I know he will look great for that attire.. If possible, i don't want to get married in the church.. I want a garden wedding or beach wedding then a judge will be the one who will marry us not a priest.. Well, I'm a catholic but I just believe that when a couple will marry in the church there is a possibility that they will be separated since I had saw many couples who makes a vow in the altar but they were just separated after a couple of years... I believe that civil wedding will let the relationship more stronger and it may last same as my parents and some of the couple I knew.. Why do I believe this way?? Its because that God always give us so many trials only those who have a strong faith in the relationship will be save but for those who are weak will be separated..

My little flower girl - Gianni, isn't she cute
For my wedding, I had two brides maids and one maid of honor, my husband had a best man and two grooms men. My little niece was my flower girl. This was my second wedding and I got married in the church. My first marriage was performed at my sister's house and my sister in law stood up for me and my ex husband's best friend stood up for him. The colors for my church wedding was burgundy for the ladies and the men had on black tuxedos. The flower girl had on a little white dress.

This is really a funny question for me, I was married in Vegas and I wore a black and white dress. There were just 4 of us in the wedding party. But it worked, many years later we are still married.

My wedding motif was pink and chocolate brown. My maid of honor wore chocolate brown dress while the rest wore pink dresses (oh i forgot, one of my bridesmaids wore brown dress because the style of dress in color pink run out of stock). The best man and groomsmen wore barong tagalog. It was an outdoor christian wedding. Well, it supposed to be a semi-formal wedding, but then, some of the guests wore t-shirt and jeans.
