hi, guys! we mostly had ever a cold or the flu before..i wonder whether u go to see the doctor each time..for me , often i would rather go to a drugstore to buy some cold medicines...its much cheaper than seeing a doctor here...in my opinion, even when u do see a doctor, he or she may or may not prescribe medicine for u. i believe rest is the best cure...i only see the doctor when something is seriously wrong... what about u ,guys? do u see the doctor when u have a cold?

I hardly ever get sick but the times that I did get sick, I never went to the doctor because I didn't think it was serious enough to see a doctor. I never had the flu before, I only had fevers, sore throat, and a basic cold. it seemed to go away pretty fast. I would say in less than a week. I think that's pretty good. Some people I know be sick even longer than a week. I feel for them.

Box of medicine - Take 2 of these and call me in the morning.
well for me it depends on how bad the cold or flu is, first I'd try some over the counter flu remedy's along with trying a few home remedy's, and if none of those worked, and if I still felt really bad then I'd go to a doctor for more powerful treatment because some colds and flu can only be relieved with treatment from a doctor believe me Iv experienced some serous colds before, and I had no choice but to see a doctor.

Nope. I usually treat the colds and flu by drinking lots of water, vitamin C and taking paracetamol tablets. If in case the colds and flu continues with fever and cough then that's the time I will seek a doctor for an antibiotic.

For minor illness like colds and flus, I would usually just let my own body antibodies cure itself. Lol, I have never seen the need to waste money on seeing a doctor for minor illness like these. There was a period of time whereby in the 12 years I have never stepped into a clinic or hospital to visit a doctor. Haha it is not because I have not fallen ill within this 12 years, but rather, I see no point in visiting a doctor when the body can recover by itself. Besides wasting money, doctors would also usually prescribe medication that could be easily obtained over the counters in pharmacies. So, what is the point? Furtheron to that, medication is not good for the body over time. Sure, you might feel better after taking medication, but it's only good for short run. When taken over a long period of time, the body usually gets used to the medicine and finally gets immune to it. In the end, the medication is rendered useless, and one will just have to keep going for stronger medication each time they get ill. So what is the point of wasting money just to spoil your health? Makes sense doesn't it? However, I do visit the doctor when I am severly ill. Haha and that translates to some sort of illness that renders me bed ridden. There was a time in my life when I have a severe stomachache to the extent that I could not walk. And that is when I was admitted to the hospital. That's about it. =D

No, I don't go to a doctor for colds or flu. Instead, I eat a lot of vitamin c rich foods. Then I lounge around, rest and do light reading. That's my "cure", no medical expense. I just try to enjoy the food.

Nope. Perhaps it's because my uncle's a medical doctor, so he provides us with all-sorts of medicines. But whenever we have a cold/flu, it's basically taking the same medications: Antipyretics + Wide-spectrum antibiotics. Antipyretics are such as paracetamol (acetaminophen) Wide-spectrum antibiotics are such as clavunate amoxillin HCl It's basically those 2 stuffs that will keep your fever down and get you all well in a matter of 2 days.

I get down the hot lemon, the tylenol, chicken soup, and whatever home remedies are available and do not go to the doctor unless it becomes very serious. Besides our emergency rooms are so fill that it would be a day and a half before they see me. So staying at home and resting is the best idea.

I think everyone should learn to take care of themselves when they have a cold or flu and not fully depend on doctors. Simple ways to get rid of cold or flu is to drink lots of hot water. Take a good rest. Eat fruits. Have hot soups. Cleanse the nose and throat often. Usually when I get cold or flu I try to spend one day drinking lots of water, taking good rest, and going to the sink often to clean my nose and throat. I usually recover within one to two days only.

I do not go, what can the doctor do? I go to the store and buy something for it. The only time I went to the doctor was about 25 years ago when I caught a cold in September, and was still fighting it in February. I had been having a stressful time in my life, and was not taking care of the cold. It had turned into bronchitis. Not a fun experience.

I don't usually go to the doctor if my cold or flu is not really a serious problem, and your're right going to the doctor is more expensive coz it pays you double instead of one,(doctor, medicines). Actually i went to the doctor forcely last 2 weeks age for my cold coz my husband is always insisting me to go to the doctor and yep he just gave me a prescription that usually i bought over the counter. Have a good day.

hello for a simple cold and flu i don't usually see a doctor, moreover i hv heard they will not improve drastically, take their own time. But when it appears repeatedly then one shud refer to doc, it may be more serious ailment say sinusitis in which u repeatedly suffer from runny nose etc but for simple ones i don't

I was also suffering from cold often and it troubled me much. I used and also using Homeopathic medicine for treatment of cold along with some homemade ayurvedic remedies. But it is always better to increase the immunity to fight diseases and it can be easily achieved through 'PRANAYAM' a kind of breathing exercise. If interested one can visit the site 'http://divyayoga.com/main.htm' for help and guide.

whenever i am down with the flu i always try some home remedies before heading down to the doctor. I will start off the day by eating an orange, and for lunch i will have some fish, perhaps baked salmon. i will also douse myself with lots of water and freshly squeezed juice if there are fruits available. I will also get lots of rest, and eat a guava in the evening. I will also take some chinese herbs and boil herbal tea. if all that fails, then i will go to see the doctor the next day for some medicine.

Not when I have a cold or flu. It's pointless to go to a doctor for just a cold or flu because they can't do anything for you. You can only drink a lot of fluids, take cold medicine and pain medication and get a lot of rest until you feel better. But I do go to the doctor if my cold turns into a sinus infection. I think I'm getting a sinus infection now and If I don't feel better during the weekend I will go to the doctor Monday . I had a cold last week and now my face is hurting and I have terrible pressure behind my eyes and face and my ears keep on popping and hurting sometimes & other clues to a sinus infection. The sudden weather change and cold wind is really taking it's toll on my health at the moment.

No, I don't go to the doctor when I just have a cold or the flu. o_o I've had them many times, and I don't think that the doctor would be able to help if he or she just told me the same thing every time I went there with the same sickness. I would only go to the doctor if I had something out of the ordinary. I don't understand why people would go to hear the same advice over and over again, and I understand even less when schools ask for a doctor's excuse. O.o In my school, you need a doctor's note if you're going to be absent for certain things. If I had a fever though, I wouldn't go to school, but I wouldn't go to the doctor either because I've had it enough times to know what to do when it comes around. Many of us have had the cold and the flu already, so I think there's no need to go to the doctor. =P Sometimes, just resting at home and taking light medicines can help you, and you certainly don't need any kind of professional intervention.
