I think for me it would be New Year because it's a all communities celebrate together and that's just wonderful. Everyone waits for those few seconds for the year to change. I'm that's the case for the millennium which passed by. I was waiting for these seconds. And new year is much more beautiful with all those fireworks at night with all the lights and at night people still walking around like if it was in the morning. I really like that kind of environment of joy. Family gathering around a nice food served and all the children together. New Year is another atmosphere that i would like to have everyday but unfortunately it's only once a year. We must be happy that we have even that to celebrate.

Please bear with me but I think I'm getting it all mixed up. I'm not sure if you are asking us (me and other mylotters) whether we like Christmas celebration better or you prefer to celebrate New Year. Or are you asking about types of celebrations, traditional or otherwise, on Christmas and New Year.
Anyway, I'll try my best to answer each one. First, I don't personally prefer Christmas celebration over New year festivities and vice versa. It really depends on whether I'm with my loved ones during these holiday seasons. I'll definitely be happier if I get to celebrate these ocassions with my own family, specially our three-year old daughter who is 'naughty but nice'.
And for the other assumption I've made, I could say that we don't get to attend family reunions anymore like we used to. But back then, we used to be celebrating merrily with my grandparents in the province when I was still single. Now, our holiday season are divided into vacation days with my in-laws and with that of my own parents and siblings.
I guess it's just a matter of priorities, situations, and changes in life. But what I'm sure is, I really miss spending quality time with my own family and parents in a simple environment in the province.
Happy holidays and welcome to mylot community.
