I remember a few years way back, penpals are very common. There was this organization that helps teenagers around the world to communicate with each other through writing postal mails. It was really fun. You'll develop the hobby of stamp collecting as a hobby too. And in receiving postal mails, you'll learn more about your friends' country and place/city/community through the way you first-handly receive their letters [envelopes, stamp pictures, handwriting, kind of paper used]. It was really fun.
which leads me also to wonder how zip codes all around the worlds are organized.
So care to share your zipcode and from where are you?
Mine's 6000 for cebu city, cebu, Philippines!

I used to be a member of a little organization that got people together as pen pals, based on their interests. I met some interesting people, but I eventually dropped out. I haven't written a letter to anyone in years. I wasn't a stamp collector, and these days, postage is so expensive that even if I did know someone I wanted to correspond with, I wouldn't do it by regular mail. Email is quick and easy, and if you're already online, it doesn't cost anything.
I don't give out my zipcode to strangers, sorry. You'd be amazed how easy it is for stalkers (not implying that you're one) to find you with just one little piece of information. I consider my zipcode just as private as my telephone number and my real name.

Stalkers can use your postal code?! Oh my. I guess your postal code is that like of the British postal code. A simple combination of letters and numbers will easily take you somewhere.
ANyways, our postal coding system [and that of the US] is very vague. The postal code alone will still confuse the mailman. We got a totally long address to prevent the mailman from getting lazy in locating the place.

We have a lot of zip codes in my city. I still write pen pals and key pals, but I have stopped for a few months. I have some backed letters! Wow! Well here is a website that shows the zip codes of my city:
