I first visited the GYM some years back... I guess I was 20 year old then.. Although I used to train at home till them.. I had a pair of dumbells and used to do countless push-ups.. I always say gym is better than working at home,,,

Throughout high school I was always involved in sports. But for those seasons where I didn't have a sport I would go to the local YMCA with my dad, he always got us a family membership. I enjoy working out at the gym much better than at home because that way it's like a task that you need to complete for the day. When you have a home gym, you just make excuses for yourself like ohhh i'll just do it later.. the equipment is right here. Anyway, I am more goal oriented when I have a place to go an work out. Plus it's nice to see other people working out along with you. I also think it helps when the gym has a tv or music playing.. just gets you pumped up a bit more. Sooo when I first visited the gym was high school. And I continue to visit now..I'm 23. At college I would go to the University gym and even joined the affiliate gym one summer. After the new year I will be joining the Community Center.. since my future husband and I moved and have a center to join now! :)

At about 16 years old i worked out after ball season, getting ready for football. In my early 20's the military started me on circute training, which worked really well, it's quick and works everything. After the military I started going to gyms, but did not like it. Too many distractions, and I hated waiting for stations to be vacant. The best i had was a friend of mine and I would workout in his garage, we had the equipment to do everything that we could do in a gym, w/o distractions or waiting. After several years we went to different jobs and our schedules did not fit. I continued working out at home on my own. I am now 56 years old, can still run down fleeing felone's half my age and put them in cuffs. Consistancey, and diet are the main things. Between genetics, the work out, and diet, I would say that genetics have the least to do with it. Get a solid diet that you can live with, train consistantly, change your routine every so often, and just keep doing it.

Like you I was 20 when I first joined my local gym and having been attending there for the last two years. Every so often I go through a stage of missing a week but have never spent more than two weeks away from it. Enjoy the weights more than the cardio as I find the cardio tends to frag although it is better for fat burning I find. Tend to spend at least half an hour of each piece of cardio equipment and that's not including the time I spend on weights.
