All my granparents have passed away, and sometimes I feel sad as I didn't really get to know them. Are your grandparents around and have you been able to spend significant amounts of time with them? How would you feel if you'd never had that chance. I know that when I have kids, it will be important to me that they get to spend time with my mum and dad

I have seen all my grand parents except my maternal grand father. My grandparents from father's side had been in the country home all through their lives. I remember visiting them during our vacation. They were darling and we used to await that stay!
We sisters were brought up by my grandma, mom's mother. She was more like a mom to us. She was a sweet heart understanding all our needs and catering to those day in and day out. I still can feel her presence and live by the fond memories we had shared.
Thanks for a beautiful discussion. my tribute to all grand parents.

Thanks for sharing your feelings. I can imagine how wonderful it must have been to have those experiences. Because I live in the UK, I never got to see my grandparents much. Well actually the only grandparents that were around when I was born was my maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother. But they both were in a different country and I probably only saw them each a total of three times in my lifetime. I always felt an 'attachment' towards them. And I cried each time I had to say goodbye, even though the visits were always short. Now they have all passed away and I have one grand-UNCLE remaining from my mothers side. I love him so much and I am grateful that he is still around.

I had grown up with my grandparents being around. They have now all passed away. One passed away in 1988 and the rest passed away last year. I really was glad that I had them in my life as I grew up. My kids have some of their grandparents in their life. The only one that is not involved is my father. But it is an important thing I think to know your grandparents.
