The attacks in Mumbai gave us a clear view of what the terrorists are capable of. It should also be an example of how unprepared we really are. Within weeks of this nations founding the Barbary Pirates provided us with our first taste of Islamic terrorism. We responded by raising a Navy and creating the Marine Corps to get rid of the threat. We won the day and quieted the threat of radical Islam for a long time by decisive military action. In much the same way we have kept terror acts off of our shores for 8 years by engaging the terrorists and their supporters on their own turf. Unfortunately, Terrorists are not restricted to the Persian Gulf region. They can be found in the Pacific Islands, South America, Africa, India(the continent not just the nation), Asia and Europe. They can even be found training in The US and Australia. One expert estimated there were more terrorist training camps in Oklahoma than in all of the Arab states combined. What could we do to save ourselves from a pirate attack like the one in Mumbia? I wrote an article linked below but the short form is ARM OURSELVES. How many riots and disasters do we need to have before we listen to the cops and 911 operators that tell us there aren't enough police and we need to protect ourselves? When will we get the message that we are on our own in an emergancy? When will we take responsibility for ourselves to protect our families, friends, neighbors and communities?
