I've found that after most holidays here in the United States, all the stores have good sales. If you go to Walmart the day after christmas you can get a lot of great future gifts marked down 50% off. They will have bath sets perfumes and gift sets and a lot of candy, there are so many good items 50% off the day after Christmas. Then when It comes time for someones birthday or another gift giving holiday you'll have your gifts ready and you would have gotten a great deal on everything. Good Luck and Happy Holiday Sales.

I do it every year! I acutally have it marked in my calender when I am going. Friday the 26th and then again Jan 4th. I may go one more time after that for the left over clearance down to 80% off stuff!
My grand mother and I were talking the other day and she says I don't know where you get all this money for all these presnts. I said umm they were cheap and I have been shopping for a YEAR!!!
I don't usually have an extra 100 in my pocket but I do normally have an extra 5 or 10 so when I see some thing I get it!

I dont go as far as writing it in my diary but I have shopped in the post-Christmas sales for birthday/next Christmas presents for as long as I can remember and, like you, I shop all year round for Christmas. The only draw back is that I sometimes forget where I've put them &, since I wrap as I go, I have once or twice bought someone 2 of the same gift

I have a tight schedule so I don't have a choice but to plan things - after Christmas sales included.
I have a spot in my attic I keep all the bought presents in. I keep a list in my planner of what needs to be bought for the upcoming events. It looks like this:
Birthdays:
Mom
Dad
Little brother
and so on
Anniversarys:
Mom and dad
Us - Me and my husband
Christmas:
Every one I buy for gets listed here on I purchase some thing for them I write it next to there name. For example -
Mom - Candles
Dad - golf club
I keep it organized and that way I can get every thing done before Thanksgiving!

I buy alot of things at the day after Christmas sales. I get decorations for the next year too. You can get alot of things at a really good price so it is a wondeful time to shop for upcoming birthdays and anniversaries or for just because. You can't pass up a great deal.

I really don't know how people that don't grab gift when there on sale do it. I've always been the one to get amazing deals. I've had family and friend call me a liar about the prices I get things for and then when I show them the sales slip and there always surprised that I was telling the truth.

I don't always go right away, but usually wait a week or two. It's hard to buy for birthdays because things change so much over a few months. The first birthday coming up is in June and who knows what will happen by then or what that person might want or need at that time... I do buy decorations and candy for the next year.

I have done this many times myself actually, and it does help save a lot of $$, and many times I have found myself even buying stuff to save up for Christmas next yr. These gift sets can be quite expensive when you buy them at the last minute. One of the main places we always seem to check for these after Christmas is WalMart.

I do something similar for my now almost 16 year old grand daughter, for her birthday and Christmas. Since she is at the age where her tastes change almost daily, it seems, Starting in the early fall I buy two gift cards..the kind you can reload. With about $10 on each. Her birthday is a couple months after Christmas. Then, when I can, I add another $10 or so to the cards. She ends up with about $50 on each. It may seem like a lot to spend, but she and her brother are all we buy for. My husband and I do not usually spend much on each other for the holidays.

Good point. My Mother and my Aunt were both great shoppers and I remember a number of times after Christmas that they went to holiday sales. Those purchases were given as birthday gifts throughout the year and some of them were even saved until the following Christmas. I've never done it before but this year I'm working at the mall so I'm looking forward to those sales and being able to use my employee discount on top of it. Great time to shop.
