Economic Crisis

With everything going on, all the failing companies...all the threats to our financial stability as a whole, what do you think that it will take for us to get back on top and stay on top? Or do you even think that we can make it out? My personal opinion is that we can make it out, but some people have to be held accountable for their terrible actions that have caused this mess in the first place. I believe that even the president needs to own up to his mistakes. There is one sure fire way that we can come out of this mess that DOES NOT require the US to pay the companies AND they can save much more money than they are saving with these other programs. They can just give every person in the US that filed as head of household 500k, tax the money (which would give back about 1/4 of it) and everyone can pay their bills and those companies won't fold :)

You are right about the fact that we will come out of the financial crisis that we are in, but we have to look at the bigger picture. What I mean here is that we can fault ourselves, ok, let me speak for myself; we, as Americans really did spend more than what we really were able to afford over the last couple of decades that seem to put us in our own individual financial problems. It was overheard in the news that when it came to the financial crisis that we as individuals needed to take a long hard look in the mirror and that is where we would be able to place the blame. So many of us received credit that we knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that we could not pay back. Something else that we have to consider is this: there is no job security anymore in the United States unless you are in the military or in some form of government work that requires or states that you are to remain in the position for an indeterminate amount of time. The president of the United States is the first person that we can always find fault with. What about the House of Representatives and the Senate? What about the CEO's who found it more important to give themselves incredible raises and bonuses over the years that they are now screaming that they do not have enough money to keep going. Wow, what a surprise. It would be nice to have the American people bailed out, yet, we have to know that this is not going to happen. At least not until it gets worse before it gets better.

I agree with a lot of what you said. It took 4-8 years to cause this crumble and I hate to say it but I think it will take close to 10 years before this is all cleared away. People do need to be held accountable and the people of America well the government needs to re-evaluate what it needs to do for the future so this type of thing doesn't happen again. Or at least put something into action that will prevent the severity of it.

Amanda: Bush is the one that changed alot of the policies that allowed this to be able to happen. But you are right...10 years is almost what it will take. I believe that God can use Obama to get the job done, but he needs 2 terms to do it.
