Aren't You Frustrated When Some Paying Site Change Their Rules/ Paying System?

First with Helium and now with Ciao. That's why I love mylot, mylot doesn't have these annoying changes. However it seems to me that once you get a hang of a site and try to work hard, then they will announce something "better" and you have to figure out all over again on how to work on the site, or simply give up. I just requested a payment in ciao and I will see what other mylotters' comments on the new system before I will be there again. *sighs*

These seem like very bad news on the surface, although I think we should wait and see what the "other incentives" will be like.
The main problem I see right now is that the newbie will be hurt, even if he writes good quality reviews. I mean, they say they will pick the best five out of about eight hundred. I reckon they will start looking from the top of the pile and work they way down from there, and who's going to be at the top of the pile? People who have been there for a while and had the time to amass a good troupe of friends who vote for them.
This means the newbies will have to write, and write free content for them in order to climb up. But without the incentive of the cents and being uncertain if once up there they will get any money, I don't see people taking their time with it.
I can understand why they made this move though, or at least I have a theory of why they chose to do it. I've seen plenty of reviews voted "very helpful" by the writer's friends, and the review would be something like: "This prodcut, like rox, cuz like I reely like it" and then he would give the specs to reach the 120 words.
Maybe what Ciao wants to achieve is to get better, more professional like content, but this seems like a bad move if that's the case. Places like Associated Content seem like a better choice for people who actually know how to write, Ciao was more about the regular Joe giving his opinion.
The other bad thing about this, is that even though until today reviews were being inflated by positive ratings, with this new system the opposite will happen. People will want to be at the top and they will start giving out negative ratings to achieve that, which will probably get the community feeling of Ciao go bye bye.
In a nutshell, I think they probably want people to vote fairly, but unless they add some sort of incentive for people to participate, they are shooting themselves in the foot. They'll end up with just a handful of people writing instead of thousands. Of course, there's also the possibility they actually WANT that.
We'll see, for now we can only speculate. But I'm seriously considering joining Associated Content while Ciao gives a better explanation on their "improvements". (Of course, that means I'll probably have to learn how to write)

Very insightful and I agree with you. Anyway I think we could wait and see at the moment. I have my own review sites and I will just spend some more time back with my own stuff and mylot. Thanks for your response! Very detailed!

Oh, will your get a payout before the changes go into effect? I hope they do pay you. I really think sites that are not sustainable under the agreements they made with their members might be better off just shutting down than to keep jerking people around. Truly, I hope myLot never experiences such difficulties. MyLot is something we count on, just like the sun coming up every day
Down with Ciao for that

I just requested for a payout and it will be 2nd week of next month. Then during this period, I will observe ciao, but not too active there. I totally agree with you since you promise certain things when people sign up, and now you are getting results and you change the playing rules. How unfair! I feel a bit cheated indeed. That's why I always come back to mylot even though it's not the best paying site, at least, we all are "safe" here!

i just logged into CIAO after reading your previous thread on removing the 25cents per review but i could not find the announcement about it. where did you find it from? can you tell me. do they also take away members rating reviews and earnings from read/rated by members? if they are going to take that away too, then i dun think we should be putting our efforts in there. we are only helping them with free publicity and writing free reviews for them cos easily 95% of the reviews written would not be able to be in the 800reviews paid and they are getting 95% of the review free while only paying for 5% of them or even lesser

Hey, it's under "my ciao" -- "home" -- "Community News". They haven't mentioned about other earnings so that's mysterious! I think you are right! We are simply writing free reviews for them. I would rather use my time in my own review site then! And the "news" is sort of hidden, if you don't pay attention, you wouldn't read and you just keep on writing reviews wondering why your earnings are not going up! Too bad!
