I have wrote some good interesting stories and meaningful poems in my childhood days. I have never showed it to my friends or to anyone. Because I thought that if there is some mistake they will kid at me. One day when I was in semi sleep my mom read my poem and showed it to my dad. He appreciated it. I heard that and praised myself at that time....

I wrote my first poem when I was 12, and it was about a picture of two cats. I was very excited and I ran down and showed it to my mother. I wrote couple of other poems at that age, but I haven't kept them. When I was around 20 years old I started writing again. I write poems and short stories. I have a collection of poems that I am working on. Many of my poems aren't finised and I am kind of stuck, but I hope to finish them someday.

I've written a couple of poems and just finished my first mystery novel. Generally, I give my work to family to read first and then to one of my friends who I know will be honest with me about my work. I do need some constructive criticism and I know that friends and family will be honest and will tell me what's right or wrong with my story and do so in a much nicer way than a publisher will. Keep writing and best of luck to you.

I write poems and songs often. The point of writing poems is to share it with as many people as possible. I know it's easier said than done but you should not be afraid of criticisms since you can actually learn a lot from them. Take criticisms positively. Plus, you can never please anyone. Even the best poets have critics so you should expect criticisms both good and bad. This is a factor that you must take into consideration when your writing, be it a poem or a song. Since your going to share your work publicly, there's bound to be someone who won't like it. But as I said, take criticisms positively, even the most negative. Even Van Gogh had to lose his sanity and eventually his life for the lack of appreciation of his works. But look at how much his paintings are worth now. So good luck and keep at it.

Don't be afraid to show your work to people because without showing it to people it will never get recognized and will never be fully respected for its power or meaning. I have written a good share of poems/song lyrics and I'm not really afraid of letting anyone see them because I have my faith in them, plus I put my heart and soul into the work I try and make.
