I work in a warehouse shipping out order via UPS and FedEx. I talk almost every day to the FedEx driver who comes in and have done so for the past year and a half. I know his name and I thought he knew mine, I mean, he's heard it I don't know how many times before when he came in to pick up for the day. A couple weeks ago he came in and someone asked him if he knew where the could find, "Tammy". He pointed to me and said, I think that's her. I said, "I'm not Tammy, I'm Terri". I smiled at him and said, "But atleast you have the Tah part right". I then told them the person who needed Tammy where to find her, but it made me think, I've known him for over a year and he FINALLY figured out my name. LOL Have you ever known someone for a long time and thought they knew your name and they didn't? Or do you know someone and not know their name?

Hopefully it was just an oversiight. I know he deals with alot of people everyday and probably doesn't know everyone's names. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Thanks for commenting and Happy MyLotting!

I have done that before. We had a delivery guy that worked for the pharmacy where I used to work. One day I needed him to wait for a delivery that was being written up. I turned around and said, Larry, hang on, we have another delivery back here. He kept going towards the door. Again, Larry! Larry! Wait a sec, there's another delivery that needs to go this run!
Someone said, Hey, Wendy, his name is Steve!
Oh! Ok, Steve! Steve, wait a sec!
I don't know how long the guy had been our delivery person, and I thought all that time that his name was Larry! How embarrasing!

I had to chuckle when I read your response. It isn't funny really and I'm sure you were embarrassed, but isn't it funny how we do sometimes, not really paying attention to things such as people's names that we are around almost every day? Thanks for the comment! Happy MyLotting!

Well, it is funny now. But, yeah, I think we just go about our business, not paying attention to some of the things around us, way too often these days.

That hasn’t really happened to me before. I worked as a retail manager for four years. All of the delivery people knew me and visa versa. In fact, I still run into a few at other stores while I am out shopping and they still remember my name (another four years later).
There were some people who I didn’t know their names. They were customers. The regulars I would usually ask. Many would address me by name because I had a name tag on.

Yikes how embarrassing... for him, of course. I'm terrible with names, and I know how humiliating it can be to forget someones name. I can usually find away around the situation without looking like a complete jerk, too bad he hasn't mastered that skill yet. I think some people just have a better mind for remembering names than others. I have an unusual name, which helps some people remember better, while other just through out every crazy german sounding name they can think of.

Yeah, several times. There's this neighbor of mine who frequents the same pub as I am, and for some reason he kept calling me Gonzalo, which is very far from my name. This went on for months and I never really cared because I don't really know the guy and our relationship is pretty much about saying "hi, how are you" as we pass by.
One day he overhears one of the employees talking to me, and he seems to realize what my real name is, so he made sure to refer to me by it throughout the whole day. I figured he felt bad about it, but no biggie.
The funny thing is, the next day I see the guy again and he goes "Hey Gonzalo, how are you?". Even to this day, he still refers to me by the wrong name. I think he's been in the neighborhood for about 6 years now.
I have to admit though, I've been on the other side too, I'm terrible when it comes to remembering names.

Hi,I generally get the name if we are talking the second or third time and wish to meet again...its quite embarrasing for me if somebody forgets my name .or if i am not able to recollect his or her name....:-)
