Christmas Over Bills?

Have you ever put off a bill in order to buy Christmas presents? This is very typical of us. We've gotten better in recent years, but we're the type that will put off bills for almost any reason. We enjoy blowing money on "fun" stuff like outings, fast food, gifts for ourselves or the kids. As I said, we've gotten better. But boy are we being surprised this year. I just got my power bill and the phone bill. Ouch! They're both due in a week. Funny, because last month they weren't due until the end of the month, I swear I just paid them, now they're due in a week. Well it's a good thing I'm done with my shopping. Hubby isn't though, he's hardly started, I keep spending all the money I'm supposed to save for him. He's going to be a little upset if he can't finish his shopping! Have you ever put off a bill to do something less important?

Not since I became a parent. My bills are the most important. My kids need a roof over their heads, electricity, heat in the winter, a/c in the summer, food in their belly's, and clothes on their backs. Nothing is more important thrn that to me. I'm NOT saying that it's not the most important thing to you. I know it is important to you. That's just how I feel in my situation and how I do things.

We've always managed somehow. We've never actually had anything shut off, we've never been evicted. Somehow we manage one way or another. We'll manage this year as well, luckily most of the shopping is behind us, and what little we'll have left over after paying the bills will be enough for hubby to finish his shopping too. I just need to discipline myself enough to stop spending, lol. I'm never satisfied. My kids have plenty ight now, but I would love to give them more.

I know we would all love to give our kids the world and it's very hard not to buy them anything and everything.

Yes all the time up until a couple of years ago. I was terrible for it I ended up is so much debt i am surprised I still have a roof over my head. I have learnt my lesson now though and I always make sure the bills are done first and if there is no money left for the finer things in life then it has to be tough luck now!

Bills come first and I wouldn't put off paying bills to get something that I want or to get presents. People understand that times are hard and tight on the wallet right now and you should not be buying presents if you cannot afford them. Try to do sentimental projects perhaps for gifts in order to save money.
