Do you think dela Hoya CHEATED?

Okay, so he lost. But after talking to a good friend of mine and hearing some of his observations on the entire fight, it got me thinking... maybe someone did cheat, and maybe that someone was dela HOya. Hey, I'm all for the Golden BOy (even rooted for him against my own countryman!) (I also responded to a post here that has a smiliar note as this discussion I'm starting.) The 'cheating' was explained by my friend to me this way: The personal weighing scales of both boxers were calibrated to match the measurement of the official scale. On the day of the official weigh in, Pacquiao, from his own weighing scale, weighed 146 lbs. (I just mentioned the word 'weigh' 3 times in one sentence! Ugh!). When he got to the official scale he weighed 142 lbs. That's four pounds lighter, right? AND my friend also pointed out that it's only a 30-minute ride from Pacman's room to the weighing center in Vegas; it's physically impossible for any human being to lose 4 pounds in 30 minutes by just a mere ride. Meanwhile, dela Hoya weighed 145lbs. It isn't a secret that he had to lose some weight to get into the welterweight division. If Pacquiao's weight discrepancy is to be based, dela Hoya should've been 149 lbs, which is two pounds more than what he should be weighing for the said division. Implications? He should be paying 2million dollars as fine for those two extra pounds, a million per. My friend said that they most probably have tinkered with the scale prior to the weigh in so that dela Hoya's camp would not have to pay such an exorbitant amount. Then again, this may just be all a coincidence, or probably my friend was just overanalyzing everything...

If he did cheat, over all that's bad because he plays the system around.. but what he did didn't affect the result of the game // and believe me.. in 30 mins you can lose 4 Lbs.. It's just water dude.. but it depends on your body composition

Yeah, you could lose the 4lbs if you'd take some diuretics, which is not at all natural. They couldn't afford to lose those pounds that way anyway, as your body system would go haywire. Nevertheless, all in all, I think whatever happened with that didn't bother Manny a bit. Thanks for the post!

I am not really familiar with that issue regarding the weight of Oscar. But during the fight itself, I really think that Oscar Dela Hoya cheated in one of the rounds. He held onto Manny Pacquiao's left hand so he can punch Manny on the face. The commentators also noticed that action of Oscar. Well, I am really happy that inspite of everything, Manny won the fight.

I saw that one, too! Well, I think everyone did. Kudos to Manny for winning despite all that. Thanks for posting!

This was the first time (and believe me it'll be the last!) that I rooted for Manny's opponent. My father has us all convinced he'd lose this time! Thanks for the post!

I was thinking maybe. Based on what Team Pacquiao had said it is really to cause some doubts. Even Freddie Roach could not beleive it. But as what Manny has stated, " Kung nandya man sila bahala na ang Diyos sa kanila" [If they cheated, It is up to the Lord (to punished them) ] One would also wonder that the unofficial weight of the fighters before the fight was 148 1/2 (I read in some articles 147 1/2) was the weight of Pacman and 147 for Oscar De la Hoya. So if Manny Pacquiao did weigh 142 in the official weigh-in he had gained 5 or 6 and a half pounds in a day while Oscar only gained 2 pounds. But all said and done and the victor is still Manny Pacquiao. Congrats to Pacman.

I actually wasn't aware of any issues regarding the weight until my friend told me what he thought about it the night after the fight. True enough, if there were any deceptions involved I could say justice was served! Thanks for posting!

I don't mind what other people is analyzing right now. I am just so happy that Manny Pacquiao made it again, this time with boxing legend Oscar Delahoya, although we can't deny the power and skilled of delahoya and he is so tough also like manny but maybe this time, Manny is luckier than Oscar. Well, if there are many filipinos who are not happy with the result, I don't mind, what I feel right now is for many of us who are just so overwhelmed with my fellow countryman's luck. I also came from Mindanao just like Manny and we feel so proud with his victory.

I agree. Pacman really is fast. They said that was why dela Hoya couldn't find a good spot to attack him since the 'target' was moving around so fast. Thanks for posting!
