It would have to be a desktop for me. I'm not too keen on laptops as they don't have much flexibility in the way of upgrades! I love digging around inside my pc and seeing what's what! I guess I'm planning to upgrade my memory and this so much easier with a desktop! A laptop with the same specifications as a desktop pc tends to cost a whole lot more! Andrew

Never under estimate the power of Laptop not all laptops are less powerful than Desktop PC. nowadays new lineup's of laptop surpass the performance of desktop when it comes to portability means all the stuff you can do in your desktop can also be done in your laptop.
Gaming can also be experience using a gaming laptop and also Photo / Video editing at the comfort of any place might encounter be needed a computer.
I prefer most of the time using a laptop because of the eye strain you could suffer prolong staring at the Desktop monitor. and with less the space and hassle of wirings in just a compact size but still can accomplish anything a Desktop can do.
the overall score that a Desktop can't compete is the portability and newer lineups of hardware like bluray and HD capability

I was just about to start a discussion titled the same with you before I saw yours, then I should to another one anyway. For me, I think both are OK since I am a college student that I spend most of my spare time in my dorm. Portable computer may be convinient if you go out a lot, but desktop computer may has an advantage in its working ability.

hello there friend...
well, you can't decide which one to choose because each of the systems have its' advantages and disadvantages... for desktop pc, it's highly durable and also high-performance pc... if you want to play games, do some photo or video editing and also high-end applications usage, the desktop pc is the best to choose for... but, the down side for desktop pc is that it's very space consuming... it takes a lot of space and also consumes a lot of power when you are using it for high-usage activity... however, some computer manufacturers have designed so cut down the space for desktop pc's... for example, now we have LCD monitor screens which can save a lot of space... ACER comes up with a small tower of desktop pc (Visit here for more information www.acer.com.my/product/prod_overview.aspx?category=Consumer+PC&series=&model=Aspire%20L3600-273X). this is very small factor of desktop pc's but this one also have a disadvantage... you cannot upgrade more hardware such as graphics card or even RAM because of its manufactured such way...
laptop pc's is very mobile and also lightweight... you can carry anywhere around and using anytime you want... now Wi-Fi is so much available around us (some of them even FREE!!), laptop pc users are now very happy with it... but the downline is, the battery won't last long (unless you bought the super battery cell which lasts about 10 hours or more)... another trouble is, you cannot upgrade a lot of hardware upgrades such as, you cannot install graphics card or other hardwares... even the RAM upgrades is much limited depending on the OS and also the system's capacity...
so either way, both desktop pc and laptop pc has its own problems and surplus... it depends what are the types of the computer users is... for example, people who want to use high-end applications, they prefer desktop pc's... people who want mobility and freedom to travel around, they prefer to choose laptop pc's...

I would always go for a desktop because desktops are far better than laptops in terms of performance, value for money and ergonomics(especially while playing games). Desktops can have a larger screen too... So i will go for desktop although I would like laptop for mobility; only for work and on the go internet, nothing else.

Hi there Kingkong!
I only use desktop PC when I'm going online because we only have internet connection here in our internet cafe. And as of now, my laptop isn't working well.

I always prefer the Desktop computers. Because, we can use it roughly. There may not be too problems with the desktop computers. When we take the laptop it will be a problematic one. It should be handled carefully. I'm not a gentle guy....

I'll probably completely geek out on everyone here and say that I use them both equally and usually at the same time

I prefer both because i use both in my room but pc is better in aspects of speed and storage of data but on the other hand laptop is good because of portability of the data
