I prefer by airplane. Maybe because I have not tried riding on an airplane yet haha! I have tried riding on a train and it is nice though the travel always depends on the distance. I think is some countries the travel by train takes about half day before you can reach your destination. So if you are the "not-so-patient" type of person when traveling then you better use airplane and enjoy the view on top of the world.

Hi there rocketj1
If I am on my own then Iwould prefer to travel by train. I can see all the beautiful countryside around me and I find it a much more relaxing journey although it will always take a lot longer. I once travelled by train from Sacramento to New York by train with just one change of train and a stretch of lefs in Chicago. That was nearly a three day journey! If I am with my kids then it is better to fly because it is quicker but it is still difficult to keep them amused during the flight. All you can see from an aircraft is cloud how exciting is that?

I would love to travel on a train. I went in a train up Pike's Peak in Colorado, but that is about all I could consider as train transportation that I have had. I've flown on a plane a couple of times. My last flight several years ago was a 15 hour flight with no layovers. I didn't mind it too much. But that was in 2000. I haven't had to try to navigate the post 9/11 security features. So if I had to choose now, I'd try a train over a plane.

It depends on how much time I have. If I have a limited period of time, I like to fly so that I can get to my destination as soon as possible. As other posters have mentioned, I don't like to fly but it is the quickest way to get somewhere. If I have the luxury of time, I like the train. It's so much more comfortable and you can see so much scenery traveling that way.
