Do you eat lobster or crab

Went to dinner last night with my husband, I ordered crab legs and shrimp, he ordered shrimp and steak.
He refuses to even try crab or lobster because they are 'too much work'. I love both of them and the work involved in eating them gives me time to savor the flavor and enjoy my food.
So do you avoid eating a food because it is too much work or is the taste worth the work to you? How do crab and lobster rank on your list of foods?

I had a surf and turf yesterday with crab legs. I love them. My husband calls them too much work, as well. But he will eat them if I do the work.
Usually for Christmas we will buy a couple lobster tales and a couple steaks and have a nice dinner, since we stay at home that day.

Lobster and crab are both equally my most favorite seafoods. I like going to restaurants that serve crab. I only had lobster once, and that was for a very special occassion, but if given the opportunity to eat it again, I would do so in a heartbeat, because it's so tasty with all that butter sauce. I enjoy crab often when I go any of my local Subway restaurants and have a submarine sandwich with crab meat on it. Just thinking about now just makes my mouth water.

I often get the imitation crab chunks at the grocery store and make my own seafood sandwiches. Even more affordable then subway and I think it is the same thing that they use in their sandwiches.
Now that you mention it..I am salivating!

I'm a crab lover but only partial with lobster. So eating crab is never too troublesome but eating lobster is. Taste is definitely worth the work for me as long as I love the food.
As I'm also newly married and finally having my own kitchen, I have been putting a lot of work to improve my cooking skills so that I can get the taste that I love best.
Happy mylotting

I agree...the taste justify the food as long as you like it.
If you are just started cooking and you can afford to cook lobster or crab you are lucky...when you get it right, let us know I am sure we will try and get a taste from you.

I love lobster and crab, but I prefer crab. My boyfriend is allergic to shell fish, cannot even eat in a restaurant that serves it because of cross contamination so I rarely get to eat it anymore (and I live near the beach)... aaagh! Now I am craving crabs... I should have never come into this post.

It sounds like you need a girl's night out. Go ahead and take one and enjoy your crab...everyone deserves a break.
If he is severely allergic, you must be careful. I guess that Red Lobster is not on your hit list.
Thanks

Don't choose your food by the cost, eat only what you like. You will be happier.

I am with your husband 100% LOL
Crabs and lobsters are just too much work, and I hate looking like a messy eater when dining outside. So I avoid any kind of food that requires me to use my fingers to de-shell. If they come before me all de-shelled, I will not hesitate to order them.
I de-shell crabs for shark fin soup every Chinese New Year, I believe I have enough memories to last me a year through. LOL

It sounds like you have to do it, which definitely takes the enjoyment out of it. I don't blame you.

Yes, I eat lobster and crabs.. In our hometown, there are so plenty of lobster or crab selling in the market in a very low price.. If we have some occasion at home, my mother usually will cook her specialty foods both sea foods and meat.. And I ate all of them even its so hard to eat it because of hard work.. Sometimes, I asked our nanny to take the shell for me so that I will eat it without any hard work.. My mother or my father usually do it for me.. Well, if going to the restaurant we don't usually but or order lobster or crab because its really hard to eat it and it doest good to look at you eating very hard or having so much hard work.. We usually order or buy food that is easily to eat and don't need to do hard work and besides its more expensive to eat seafoods in the restaurant than just buy it in the market..And since my mother cook delicious food than in the restaurant..

Oh yes that's included on my favorites. I really like and love all edible crustaceans that includes shrimps and crabs etc etc...it is true a "time consuming" effort but it doesn't matter as long a I would be in hurry for some other priorities. But, if it will be served an hour before heading for work, ohhh no way just save a little for me..but If I would not be of anything else, better be with me during eating time cause if you're not I will just give my left-over. If i am going to rank it that would be number one and two respectively...yummmmyyyy..cheers

Yes, you need the time to eat it, I would not consider it otherwise. Crab and lobster are the food of choice when meal time is relaxed.

I guess if you prefer beef then crab and lobster can seem like too much work, but if you enjoy the succulent taste that you can only find in Lobster and crab then there is no alternative.
