How big should an appetizer be????

Went to Tony Roma's today for dinner, and ordered their Fried Mushroom for the first time... It's a huge portion! Now unlike Itallianies that specifies that the portion is for like 2-3 people or individual serving....
My jaw dropped...
It was pretty much a main course....(Not I'm complaining as it was value for money:p)
I also ordered a half loaf onion ring, which I know for sure is small. Thank god I decided to share the main course, even then, had some Fried Mushroom to takeaway..*burp*Just wondering, what's the average portion for appetizers you get, as in is it normally a single serving, or is it to serve 2-4 people. I think the Fried Mushroom was enough to be 4 people's appetizer.

I think most appetizers are plated for at least two people to munch on. You were fortunate to get such a large portion. I would love that, at least you got above your money's worth and had some to take home. I like to have enough to fill me up at the restaurant and some left over to take home for the next day.
