Everyone's too busy to comment because they're busy making their own discussion

What i realised, as a fairly new mylotter, is that people are more busy creating new discussions rather than commenting on others' discussion. Could it be because by creating new discussions, your earnings will depend on the amount of people commenting on your discussion, and that would mean greater earnings from MyLot rather than the smaller earnings you generate through commenting others' discussion?? What is your ratio of commenting to others' discussion to creating your own??

I much prefer to participate in discussions, than start my own discussions. I've started very few discussions. I'm not entirely sure why I'm like that, but I just am like that. It's the way I am.

Probably now i'm starting to think that people who actually responds to this discussion here are people who are more interested in answering discussions rather than making new ones of their own. Well, as for the others, they're probably still too busy creating new discussions, one after another.

I respond to discussions a lot more that I start my own. I will sometimes have a discussion that gets a lot of responses, but most of the time I only get a handful of responses.

I don't start alot of discussions. I had one last week I think. I usually just look for discussions to comment on, since I'm not the most creative person. I enjoy reading other discussions and commenting when I feel I have something to add.

yeah..i agree...people create more discussions then participate on a discussion..in an average you would find just 4-8 comments per discussion , however you would find a new discussion created every 10-15 seconds on average..i think everyone should participate in discussions and enjoy every comments..i hardly have created discussions because i am mostly busy commenting on discussions...all the best thanks happy mylotting..!!!

Agreed!! That was what i noticed, too!! I mean, i like replying to discussions, because it's like chatting. And chatting is more fun rather than like to open new chatboxes just to begin with a word oh "Hi" to your friends.

hi, i mostly prefer for the responding to other discussions only. my ratio of respons to others to own discussions is 8:1. if we response to others we get more money than creating own discussion.

I usually respond on others' discussions, I'm not that creative to come out with so many discussion topics by myself. I usually only start one or two discussions per day, if I have any idea on the topics. I'd always prefer to respond, as the discussion topics always trigger my mind to think. Yeah, if more people respond to your discussions, then you'll earn more.

Actually, I think commenting to an already existing discussion is much easier than creating one's own discussion. I have had a few discussions of my own. I just make my own discussion when there's something I really want to say that I can't just express with the people I'm with. Either way, I think that mylot users would probably comment on a discussion that interest them, and probably not too busy making their own discussion.

I don't think you earn more for starting discussions that you do for posting th other peoples discussions and I also believe that how many replies you get to your discussion does NOT affect your earnings. That's my understanding anyway. I do think that it's possible that more people are posting their own discussions rather that replying to those of other mylotters, but I'm not certain. I just noticed that I get a lot less responses to my discussions than I did about a year ago. Perhaps more. But the fact that I haven't been as much of a regular to mylot could have affected the number of responses that I receive also.

You are wrong. My responses to other discussions outnumber my own started discussions by a large amount. I start discussions out of interest and sometimes they take off and I think wow. But I might start one a week and I reply to other discussions at about 20 or so a day. Big difference. I do not focus on starting and lots of others do not either. I have no idea how to work out a ratio but as I said I respond to about 140 a week and I post about 1 or 2 a week so you figure the ratio out.

I hope to be able to start a lot of interesting and thoughtful conversations, however for starters I'm reading a lot and posting a lot until I get the hang of this place, and know what to expect, as far as standards go. I have a funny feeling with my grasp of the english language and my busy mind, that I'll be able to fit in just effortlessly. We will have to see how things unfold.

I comment on other posts more than I create my own.... Usually when I make a comment of read a funny post it reminds me of something that I can start a discussion about. I like to hear what others have to say first. I only comment to posts that make sense and that catch my interests though. It is hard to comment on every post and I do try to at least comment on about 5 or 6 a day. I also try to comment on posts that are new, because these sometimes have 0 responses..... I try to respond so that that person knows that someone took the time to read it.

hmmm. not sure exactly how this all works yet. but i can see what your saying, if it really works like that where you gain more for creating discussions that get alot of posts then yeh. I myself so far have just posted and replied to discussions, have not created any posts topics of my own yet.

i am fairly new to this mylot world but what i find is that it's hard to carry on discussions on here people seem to make a comment and you reply and you never hear about it again. I believ that you are right in saying people are starting to sway more to starting their own discussions. I will not say i do not start my own when I have something i would like to talk about or to get peoples opinions on. But even answering someones discussion it's hard to carry any sort of conversation for more then one maybe 2 replies. maybe mylot needs something to tell you someones comented on one of your replies? Just a thought (maybe a new discussion) ;)

I have found a lot of discussions to respond to. And if I have something on my mind I start a discussion. It looks like you got good feedback from this one. Great job. And good luck.

My ratio of commenting on other discussions as opposed to creating my own differ from day to day. It just depends on if I can come up with a discussion topic or if I feel like reading what others are talking about. I've learned that when it comes to creating a discussion, it's only really worth it if you have a good, quality subject to talk about, that's when you will get paid the most. But some days I can't always come up with a good topic to discuss, so that's when I turn to other people's topics to comment on in order to boost my earnings. I have noticed though that the days I can create my own discussions are the days my earnings are higher. But I also understand why too, which is because it is often harder to come up with your own quality discussions as opposed to simply replying to what someone else is talking about. Typically when I create a discussion, it is about something going on in my life that has been taking over my mind and I can't stop thinking about it. I've found that it helps me out a lot to not only get it out of my mind my starting a discussion about it, but then in return I also get comments and advice about these different topics! It's very beneficial to me, and as an added bonus I literally get paid for my thoughts.

I only start my own discussion if I come across a subject or question that I would really like to hear input on from other people. It is easier for me to find other discussions to respond to. I have actually goetten to a point of making about $1 a day just responding. I am hoping some of my referrals will get active, but I doubt they will be as active here as I am.
