To teach him how to sit, just hold something in your hand. A kind of food that he really enjoys. Then, say in a strong tone of voice: "Sit". And keep the food in your hand in a way he can see it, looking up. The dogs usually will sit after waiting a bit and not receiving their food. So, just keep holding the food steady and he will sit waiting for it after a few seconds. Then you throw him the food and make a small party, saying congratulations, and hugging him and all.
