That's a very broad question. It all depends on what you are trying to teach your dog to do. Also, what do you mean by "tricks", like sit, roll over and so on?, or something more complex?

Hello, Elaiski.
Teaching your dog some tricks is not easy. First of all, there is the age thing. Usually, dogs will learn faster when they are younger, specially if they have not completed a year yet. But you can teach your dog anyway. Just make sure that you have a lot of patience.
To teach him how to sit, just hold something in your hand. A kind of food that he really enjoys. Then, say in a strong tone of voice: "Sit". And keep the food in your hand in a way he can see it, looking up. The dogs usually will sit after waiting a bit and not receiving their food. So, just keep holding the food steady and he will sit waiting for it after a few seconds. Then you throw him the food and make a small party, saying congratulations, and hugging him and all. He will be confused at first. Repeat the exercise a little bit, but don't overdo it or your dog will just get stressed. Continue the next day. In a week he will be sitting.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.
