The rise in teenage pregnency and th number of single mothers goes to show that most boys and men are equal partners in gettig teh girl pregnent yet at teh first sign of pregnency, they take to their heels and vanish. They feign ignorance and tryo to avoid the responsibility. Why shoudl they bve permitted to get away with it. More often than not the girl and her parents accept it as their fate and do not pursue teh boy or press charges against him. This emboldens them and theydo the same thing with other girls too. One boy may father 5-6 without owning up responsibility for even one.
Is it fair Why shoud the girl bear the brunt? First she carries the child in her stomach for 9 months thenshe rears the child and then she earns to feed the child too. isn't it totally unfair? What action should be taken against such erring boys?

I think the country should make it clear in law to punish those boys who desert a girl pregnent. Moral condemn can't quitely change this.

If the the girl is a minor then the parents could probably press charges against the parents of the boy if the boy is also a minor. But other than that, I don't think girl or the parents can do anything at all. The girl though can demand support from the father whether he likes it or not. If he doesn't do that then he is waiving his rights as a father to the child and the mother has all the right to not let the father see the child at all.
Or maybe we can teach those boys a lesson by giving them a whack in the head! Hahaha! No, no, no...no killings just a good whack would probably do it! Haha! Kidding...

This is a complicated issue. On one hand...both the boy and the girl did the deed which cause the pregnancy. On the other hand...the boy often has less say about what is done about the pregnancy. It is the girl and her parents who will decide whether or not the baby is aborted (I am not in favor of abortion, but for many this is an option) or if the baby is put up for adoption. The boy doesn't have a say...he can't say I don't want the responsibility so we should give the baby up for adoption. If the girl or her family want the baby then this isn't an option.
It seems that the whole situation is a bad one. Birth control options are often the best option and should be easily available to teens to help prevent teenage pregnancy.

hmm.. i totally agree, some action should be taken against such men.. but usually the girl and her family are too scared of the society, and the society blames the girl for everything that has happened to her.. i think the society needs awareness regarding this...

i think it is better not to force them if they are not ready to take the responsibility.but i think they should be able to pay for the child support.they should be equally responsible for bringing up the child even though they(parents) donot stay in the same house.

Girls can walk away just as easily. There are a lot of men and families out there who are raising children abandoned by the mother. We act like it never happens.
Also, in the US, any parent can hand over an infant to any health care professional, no questions asked.
You see, ours is a society that shuns responsibility. We make it easy to abandon responsibilities but extremely difficult for those with the gall to actually accept them.

It is due to cultural corruption. The affected girl and her family used to hide the fact outof fear complex. Our media is focusing the news for enhancing its sales rather than ssking justice. Our society doen't have the courage to provide good life for the victims. If a system of investicatng the culprits in a secret manner with out harming the victim and her family and punishing them quickly by judiciary come into existence, these type of crimes will not vanish.

i also believe that guys should be punished for cheating the girls but if i sound like a chauvenist, pardon me.whose fault is this anyway? can you blame a guy for behaving this way when he finds a girl whom he can manipulate anyway he want and get away with it?i always thought that girls were more intelligent than guys but when it come to this issue, iam forced to think otherwise.is it that easy for a guy to fool a girl with little compliments and practised love dialogues?instead of punishing the guy,you can make a girl who got cheated to speak live on one of those TV channels and wish that other girls will learn their lesson atleast then.the future prospect of surviving as a single mother must go through their mind every time a guy uses those love techniques.if u still think punishment is the only way to solve problem then there wont be any crimes like murder, theft etc left nowadays but is that the case?if anything, those crimes are increasing in number.simple message.GIRLS,MAKE WISE DECISION OR JUST SUFFER.HAPPY LOTTING.

what a great topic. i was 17 and fell pregnant to my boyfriend who ditched me, he had also ditched another pregnant girl only 6 months prior to me which i was unaware of at the time. and to make the story a whole lot worse, he has sat on his but for that past 5 yrs, with 2 boys he never sees and only has to pay min childsupport because he "can not find a job". firstly i dont think these men should be allowed to not work when it is clear of what they are doing, they know if they work they will have to pay more child support, so of course they are not going to do it. so instead of doing anything about it, this country (i am in aus) does nothing, and keeps paying them there wage every fortnight. and it will probally never change! it should 1 be illegal, and 2, looked down apon more instead of being an acceptance and a "normal" thing these days. because i can tell u now, if my son turned out like that, i know id be doing something about it
