what do you normally do for the things you have that you don't need anymore? Im thingking about it because at least once a year im trying to get rid out of things that is not needed and give to our relatives that want it. and it is really fulfilling to see them very happy. And just wish i can give more that is not used but then, that's all i have and im glad i still can share with them even how little it is. How about you? did you do the same way or do something else about it?

Size of Paper - get paid to post forum - A forum that pays you by posting.
I usually ask if my family or relatives want the stuffs that I don't need anymore. If they don't need them, then I'll donate to the charity organizations. There are many charity organizations collecting the used stuffs, and give them away to the needs. If we do not need the things, those things may still be useful to them, so it's good to giveaway the things we don't need and help others too.

I call this de-cluttering and I do the same thing as you. First I see if someone I know wants it. If not depending on what the item is, I might take it to a womens shelter, salvation army and I have even taken 4 boxes to a teen lock-up that said that they needed books. There is so many ways to get rid of things we dont need without putting them in the landfill. As the saying goes, "One mans trash, is another mans treasure". This year I think we are having a yard sale too!

My Mother works for the Red Cross so I have always had the mentality to donate things that are no longer needed to charity organizations such as this. One man's trash is another man's treasure! And what may seem insignificant to us could mean the world to someone else. The only problem though is being regular about it! It is not an issue for ma at this moment in time because I have a very limited number of possessions because I travel so much. But back home when I am settled, it was usually only when I moved house or something that I would actually make the effort ot offload things and the rest of the time I would just end up collecting a lot of things that I don't really need anymore! You are very disciplined to do this at least once a year.

I usually do not give used things to anyone. I either keep them for myself, or dispose off them in a safe manner. If I have to give something to somebody, I make sure that it still can be used and not in a completely bad way. But most of times it's me who's getting all the stuff because I'm one of the youngest in the family and all that is used comes down to me. lol. bourne

Thanks for the respond.

I usually will try to figure out new ways to utilise the stuff that i rarely use. If that don't work out really well i will try go it it to someone who needs it. And final option is i will send it for recyling if possible if not its destine to go to the trash

If I don't think it is something the relative want, I freecyce it (freecyce.org) It is a yahoo group that allows you to give away items to people in your county. It works out well for all. Also I donate to the humane shelter who has a thrift store.

That is why i did try my best at least once a year or more would be nicier to do it because it make you feel better if the stuff that you don't need is being useful to someone else specially i try to give it to my relatives that is so dear to me. and it will give me a peace of mind if i don't see too much of stuff that is just setting in one corner begging me to when im going to use them again.lol. hope you will find a good solution for the stuff that you have. Sometimes we just need to do it. Anyway, you can find on line if thier is a closer in your area that does receive some stuff for the needs if your interest to give it away. Im sure you can find lots of charity groups that will be glad to recieve your stuff. Good luck.

I normally give my old clothes, shoes, and other things that can still be useful to foundations and charities. There's this mall here in the Philippines that has a booth where you can leave your stuff and they'd be the one to give it to the charities and outreach programs for the needy. To avoid clutter, I not only give my used things, I also get rid of those given to me but are of no use to me. And, it's nice to keep in mind that everytime we buy something, another one has to go.

Hi! Once or twice a year,I usually set aside things that are no use to us anymore.I ask some relatives that might need them ,so I ask them first if they want it.I have a hard up classmate in highschool who has 9 kids,so she is always in my list.I have this thinking instead of letting those things grow in our place why not just share it with others because it might not be useful to us but to others it could be very important and useful. For all we know, that act of giving could make a big difference in everyone's life.

Hi teshavill, Yest that is true, this christmas season is a time to give and share, i think it is also good to give things that we dont need anymore for it might be useful for the receiver. Thanks for the respond.

Same thing. If I see that there are things that is longer useful to me, I usually give it to my family and relatives who are willing to use it. I'll make sure also that it is still useful and presentable. It is useless to have more things in your room which makes crowded and that is now in use and it better to give to someone else or somebody else that can be used.

Hi rrvillarosa, I guess that is the best thing to do with the things that we dont need anymore for we can also help them and at the same time we can make them happy in our own little way. Thanks for the respond.

If I have things that I no longer want or need, I sort them into groups: 1)those that I can recycle and 2)those that could be given to charity. That way I do not feel that I am creating more 'mess' for the planet to deal with and that my things (in particular those given to charity) will be used well

I have a lot of trouble with this. It is very hard for me to get rid of things. I like to hold on to things because I think I will need them eventually. Like when I have clothes that do not fit, I hold on to them. I keep shoes even if I never wear them. I keep books even if I will never read them again. It is just how I am, lol.

HI This is my first post here so I hope I do a good job. I have 2 kids, three if you count my husband. Any toys that I have tripped over at least twice go into a box under my stairs and when that box is full I give it to a used store or something. For me and my husband, I box up everything that is collecting dust around the house and tape it up. I mark the date it was packed and whats inside it. A year later if that box hasn't been touched I will offer what's inside to friends and family and the rest goes to a goodwill. I don't deal with garage sales because you really only end selling a small percentage and throwing out the rest. One rule I always remember is things is like your makeup, Less is definitely more. I hope this helps. Mandy

When I have stuff I want to get rid of I take it to Good-will. Not only am I supporting a good cause but I get a tax write off to. It works out for everybody. Usually while I am at goodwill dropping off items I don't want I will browse around and see if they have anything that I want to buy.

I don't like to have too many things, I only want to keep the things which mean the most to me, and I have given away many of my other things. I have given away books, cds, furniture and many other things. I usually ask my family and friends first and they have received many of my things. If they don't want or need the things, we ask other people like a friend of a friend. If no one wants the things I give them to charity.

Formerly I abandon those things. But recently I don't do that anymore,I think it's not a good behave and make a waste.I think your way of sharing is a good method. It's won't cause waste. What's important is that it make you and your friends happy. It's an easy way of getting happiness, why don't do that?

If it is clothes all our kids have out grown or toys we send it to the town hall for families in need. They give it away for free to families who don't have a lot of money, but need the items.

I'm a huge pack rat, but every year or so I get in a pitch and toss frenzy and Goodwill rakes in my donations. Sometimes I'll give things away to friends first, for instance when I got rid of my VHS collection. However, most things go in bag bags to community collection bins or to Goodwill. Sometimes I'll go to the Salvation Army, but because they only have bins inside the store during work hours, it's not always convenient.
