How soon do you get and decorate your Christmas tree?

I have an artificial tree and so I enjoy setting it up right after Thanksgiving. With all the trouble I put into decorating it, and house for that matter, I want to enjoy it for several weeks before I have to take everything down and store it away for another year. This means the decorations don't come down till after New Years.
When do you decorate your tree?

I like to put the decorations up the Saturday adter Thanksgiving. Although this year because my schedule was so hectic I just got it up this past Saturday. I dont like Holidays to overlap so putting it up before Thanksgiving is just out of the question. It will come down on newyears eve (hopefully).

I totally agree with you, Mzplased. I still enjoy and observe Thanksgiving and decorate my home for that but once we reach Dec 1st, I begin my Christmas decorating.
Merry Christmas!

I used to think people were crazy for putting up their trees right after Thanksgiving (or even before), but now I do it too. I think its and activity that you can share with your family or even by yourself that is fun and has a wonderful outcome to enjoy. I once thought about keeping a tree up all year and decorating it with different decorations for each holiday but that almost seemed like too much trouble, and kinda crazy. Who knows, maybe in ten years I'll do it. I say decorate away and enjoy your tree!

I have thought about that also. There are trees you can buy that are small and can be put on a table or in a corner and you decorate them for Easter, July 4t and Halloween. I have been tempted to buy one. Not sure where to buy though. i don't want to use my large 7 ft. tree as it takes up a lot of room.
Merry Christmas, Jess!
