This is defintiely a problem for me. Every year I always struggle with trying to figure out what I should buy for what person. I can never come up with a good gift idea for some people so then I just end up finding something that looks nice or neat and then that's what they get. It definitely is a pain. That's why I resort to gift cards sometimes. It's just easier than stressing myself out.

I have the unenviable position of not having any money at all so I can't buy anyone anything. This saves me the trouble of looking for something to buy people. I can't afford it. Cheers!!

I always find it hard knowing what to buy people for christmas. This year I am going to buy mostly gift cards. That way the people I have to buy for can go and buy their own gifts. That way I know that they are going to get what they want.

Absolutely. I guess unless someone in the family prepares a Christmas Wish List, then it is hard to buy for that someone special. Wow, would it not be great being a kid again? I really love the toys and the activities that they have today. Great discussion. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

For my mom, my aunt, and my best friend it is pretty easy, but for my dad, my boyfriend, and my boyfriend's parents, I always draw a blank. My dad is hard to buy for because it is hard to find clothes that he likes that fit him, same for my boyfriend, my dad has all kinds of tools, so if you get him tools, which he does use... you are possibly getting him a repeat.... it's easier to just buy my dad a walmart gift card, so that he can get what he needs and get what he wants. My boyfriend, well, he don't know what to do with tools... ok i won't go that far, but he don't use them. He plays video games, which is what everyone gets him, so it's hard to know what to get him that someone else hasn't got for him or that he hasn't got for himself. The giftcard is a good way to go for him too. For his parents though... I have no clue... I ask my boyfirend, but even he don't know... How in the world do you buy presents for someone when you don't know them that well, or know what they need or want?

Sometimes its difficult to buy for the people I do for Christmas. I know what they like, but I dont know what they have. I try and find something unique but also useable, something that will be opened and then packed away isnt my idea of a good gifts. I find that I am buying more and more gift cards as gifts, not because I am not putting thought into the gift. I am because I get it for a store that I know they will like. This way they can decide what gift they want and use the card. I am not throwing money away that way and we both are happy.

I buy throughout the year rather than leaving it all for a mad dash at Christmas! So that gives me plenty of time to think what I can get people! Trouble is I sometimes forget that I have already got them something and when Christmas approaches I forget what I have already bought them and start fretting! My mum is never easy to buy for so I do cheat and give her money that way she can go out and buy what she likes! I don't have that many presents to buy for now, we are all adults so we have cut down on buying, it gets too expensive anyhow.

I rarely struggle on what to buy people because I only buy for people I am close to. I struggle with how to pay for the gifts. LOL

I agree it's hard to buy something for people every year. And something for their birthdays too. Usually it's easier to shop for girls because you could pick out something you like for yourself. It's hard to shop for parents thought because it's like they have everything.

No, I only buy people things they truly like, want, or need. So, most of the time, it works out for me. it doesn't work out when I have a friend who is the type who is all over the place. I.e. this week they like say blue and next week they like pink. I used to have people in my my life who complainedx about gifts, but now no one really complains. For those picky people, I get the visa gift card things.
